Multi Region DVD player?

Can anyone recommend a decent multi region (at least 2 and 4) DVD player (or Bluray player)? It would be for occasional use, so doesn't need to be anything flash.

The PS2 I brought with me from the UK is starting to struggle and I've got a lot of Region 2 DVDs I like to watch every so often.

I've looked in to modifying the region 4 players I've got, but it involves opening them up and buggering about with the guts, which I'm not so sure about.

Go to JB HiFi and ask.

It's what I did. Picked up a Toshiba for around $60 with a code to "upgrade the software" inside the box to play multi-region.

Basically, any company that has a subsidiary involved in the sale of DVDs will not be able to be converted into multi-region. Any standard electronic company will.

Given the info about PS3s I just tried a couple of my region 2 DVDs in my Aus bought Sony BluRay DVD player to see what happened.

They worked! Despite the player saying it is region 4 on the back.

Yeah, but now it is getting weird! They play on my 6 year old Aus bought PS3 too.

Except my region 2 Italian Job, which gets a "wrong region" message on both, but my region 2 40th anniversary Italian Job plays fine on both.

Neither of the players are hacked, I suspect some region 2 DVDs are actually region free.
