So, the planning (in earnest) begins….. We don’t leave the UK until 30th March 2015, but I’m sure it won’t take long for that date to come round.
Anyone here in Adelaide? We are going to set up home in Port Noarlunga.

How does car stuff work over in Australia?
I am resigned to the fact that I won’t be smoking around in Jaguars or BMW 7-series over there, as they just aren't available on the budget I will have.
I understand that fuel is one the few things that is cheaper in Australia – But do larger engine cars get penalised by higher tax (or equivalent)
How does the Australian version of an MOT work?

Also, for those of you that are in the Adelaide area – Is the Job market as dire as I am currently led to believe?

Thanks in Advance…..

We are just about to leave for OZ in 4 weeks.

Had import approval on our VW Touareg V10 and about to submit application for our 205 CTI.

We were planning on Adelaide after our visit year last christmas but decided on Newcastle NSW now....

Adelaide has some pretty fantastic driving roads a stones throw from the city. Maybe consider something like an EVO 6 to get started and head out to the hills for some fun cos city driving sucks ass big time in Oz wink

Hi, Thanks for the replies.....

I have pretty much resigned myself to an AU series Falcon for the first couple of years - initial budget for a car is only going to be $5k (tops).

I bought a 2004 Ford Fairmont with 150k Kms for $4800 in Nov. Decent for the cash and nicer interior than a standard Falcon. No need to go as old as an AU.

Agree - you'll get a BA or BF for $5k.

Just make sure it isn't an ex-taxi smile

Port Noarlunga eh! At last someone closer to where I live. I moved here 2 years ago and got a rental in Port Noarlunga while building in Hallett Cove. We moved in there 6 months ago. PN and Christies beach are fantastic. We lived at the top of the hill on Ralphs Avenue in between them so 5 mins either way to a glorious beach.

What takes you there? Have you been before?

Fuel is cheap yes. Currently between 142-159 cents/litre. It fluctuates in a strange cycle that no one understands biggrin

YEs rego is based on number of cylinders and I just pay it. I cant even tell you what it costs. But its quite expensive. $7-800 a year.

Where are you coming from? Let me know if you have any container space spare and I could purchase some if available.

Any local Q's just ask. See you next year maybe.
