One of the free local rags included some propaganda from plod on the Christmas road toll.

One of the rules was "Don't speed when overtaking." So no going over 100 if I come across someone doing 85? What happened to minimising your time exposed to danger?

Really goes to show how screwed up the road safety message is here.

Don't worry, I always undertake. Only need to do 90 to go past those in the outside lane...

It is but I've never seen it trotted out by plod in an advert/article. I've also never heard of anyone being fined for doing it in the UK.

On a straight which is the more dangerous overtaking move?
1) pull out, accelerate to 100 km/h, sit there and crawl past
2) pull out, floor it, hit 150 km/h and be back on the left asap?

I've been passed when I've been doing 100 in a 100 limit by people doing 105 - it isn't a great experience having some mouth breathing sheep trundling past.

Well it's a common enough way for people to get caught speeding, the only issue is that you may avoid a camera being on the wrong side of the road if it's unmanned and not pointed there.

My ex housemate got caught overtaking two cars. he was clocked at 160Kmh buy an unmarked holden (one of the cars he was overtaking!) Oops.

I have a speed limit alarm set at 120kmh and stop accelerating once i hit that, but that's crazy advice. Completely ill thought out and downright dangerous!

Time exposed to danger should be minimised and doing 130-150 for a few seconds is much safer than 100 for minutes. Bloody idiots
