Just a rant disguised as a question.

Does anyone know of, or could you recommend, a decent car servicing location in Perth CBD?

So far I have had

1) Extortion >$2k for routine stuff.

2) "Your head gasket is going sir, we need to remove the cylinder head, skim it and replace"

3) and a blown ECU 50kilometers after a full service which is now going to cost between $700-1200 + labour.

All this in three different dealer service locations with two makes of car (Honda and Holden)

so is there anyone that knows customer service and value anymore or is it 'just Perth'?

I can plug my mechanic, Zurich Automotives but he's in O'Connor and this is his last week before they close for Xmas/new year period.

I stopped using the main dealers because I found the work was poor and the prices were far too high.
I used to use Glide Automotive on Newcastle Street for quite a few years. They did the major service on my Prado for less than half what Toyota quoted. They are good honest mechanics at a fair price.

The last year or so I've had my cars serviced nearer to home simply because I cycle into the CBD every day now.
