Does no one else think that one thing inherently wrong with driving in Australia is the proliferation of drive-through bottle shops?
Er what about all the booze you can buy at the petrol station in the U.K.
How many people go to a UK petrol station specifically to buy booze? Not many. Here you almost have no choice but to drive to the bottle shop where the alcohol is placed right on the seat next to you. In countries where alcohol is sold in a supermarket I'd bet the vast majority of it is placed in the boot with the rest of the groceries. It makes no sense what so ever to encourage people to associate driving with drinking.

Yeah nah, don't think you're on to anything with that.

Most cops get drink drivers at pub closing time or after work on fridays/after a Sunday Session.

I've been pulled over for an RBT after a police officer saw me drinking a bottle of Bundaberg Ginger Beer (the brown glass bottle one) in the car, so I think they are pretty wise to it.

I've never drunk anything I've pruchased from a bottle shop as a driver, and I can't think of any instance where I've seen it.

Every drive through I know of is attached to a bottle shop so you have the choice to walk in if you wish. Plus it not illegal to have a drink and drive its illegal to be over .05 and drive. If drive thru bottle shops encourage drink driving then maybe pubs should have no car parks as this encourages people to drink and drive.

I've never seen a driver drinking whilst leaving a drive through but I'm sure it happens - I have seen quite a few obvious drunks leaving pubs.

Interestingly most deaths and injuries occur here in WA in the country which isn't exactly stacked with drive through a...

I lived in Perth 2008-2013 and got lots of tickets (as did my wife). One day I got two!! IMHO the driving is worse than the UK as drivers are either more hesitant or make quick moves without warning. Lack of corners definitely makes a difference. I have a fast bike and had to go into the country for a normal speed ride. Try asking for roads online and the locals are so parochial (and afraid of telling the police where the good roads are) that they keep it to themselves. But I would drive out from Hillarys to Joondalup, Bullsbrook, Bindoon, then maybe over Dewars Pool Road to Toodyay or Bindoon to Gingin and back in. I moved to Sydney two years ago and there are much better roads here and people drive a bit faster, though a little more aggressively. The Old Pacific Highway is very good but policed. Only one ticket here in a CBD tunnel when I wasn't concentrating. Nothing on the bike yet.

I go on holiday to Germany, the UK and the US to get good roads in. In July I rented an E63s in Las Vegas, went to Exotics Racing (9 cars five laps each) and then back via Germany (Black Forest) and picked up an M5. This is how I cope with not being able to hammer around.

Cheers....
