Some replies on other threads got me thinking about the track day situation here in NSW.

I've only spoken to Sydney Motorsport Park (Eastern Creek) so there's probably a fair bit more track time available at places like Oran Park and Wakefield Park but if anyone's interested below is info on the upcoming car track days at SMP.

19th - May
23rd - June
15th - July

The morning session is for race cars only and the afternoon from 1pm - 5pm is for road cars.

They run approximately one a month and the cost is $340. You can book by phoning 02 9672 1000 or through www.sydneymotorsportpark.com.au

If you join the ARDC you can get two track days half price, membership packages start at $85 but I'm not sure if this level gets you the half price track days.

I think I'll do one in June or July but I have to say, $340 is bloody expensive for a half day!

If anyone wants to add further info on dates and other tracks please feel free?

Matt

Wakefield does regular "Speed off the Street" track days (not half days). You just bring any car thats' registered for road use to attend.

http://www.wakefieldpark.com.au/drive/speed-off-th...

only $130 during the week and $160 on weekends.

Have a look at FOSC.com.au, there's something there for everyone typically 4 rounds per season with the first round normally a full weekend plus Friday practice at Wakey around Easter and then the remaining rounds at Eastern creek

I've run in regularity for the last 3 years, up against, porkers, Toranas, HQs, Commodores, Mustangs, various Subies, MX5s, Legend racers from the U.S., a GT40 and of course all of my clubman driving mates.

Next round is on 31/5 which I won't be running at due to other commitments but will be back for the July and November rounds.

Regularity is technically not racing but try telling that to the drivers :-), always has rolling starts to save time, preserve drive lines and prevent first corner accidents.

AASA or CAMS L2S licence is the order of the day, cars can be registered or race only.

The cost of entry to the next round is $198 + $20 for Dorian hire on the day, they also do come and try for beginners where the morning sessions have one of the masters in the left seat to show the ropes and then they move to Reg B in the afternoon.

During the lunch break there is a partners parade where you can let your wife, crew, friend either drive or sit in the passengers seat to experience the track, at Wakey on the Sunday 4 of us swapped cars to see what the differences were, don't get over about 120 on the straight during this but by leaving a gap our corner speeds were close to race pace.

At the end of the day if there's time and interest they run a butchers picnic which is a balls out 8-10 lapper where you could be running against pretty much anything, sports cars with full aero tend to arrive very quickly
