Qld doesn't have annual roadworthy checks (MOT's I think is the equivalent in the UK) Not sure about VIC but NSW does.

When importing a car to Australia try and make it as 'factory' as possible, they really go over the car before they release it from the docks.

Qld police aren't as heavy on modified cars as other states generally as a rule, but there's always exceptions to the rule be it an officious constable or some sort of roadworthy blitz where they pick out likely candidates.

Big noisy exhausts and super low cars are the main targets.
