Well done Nick, awesome. I understand the new car drives unbelievable well, just not played in one yet.

The old Manta is 20 years old next year - still brings a huge smile to me when driving hehe

Glad all are well - it's been bloody quiet in here!

All good here - working long hours and weeks but now on 4 weeks leave and planning on test driving a few cars.

Just got an Xbox One with Forza 6 so will sit on my arse drinking beer from 10am each so not a bad month off work.

Currently dreaming of

996 C4S - something about it is hmm and not much depreciation
997 S - chocolate engine?
E92 M3 - is it special enough?
E60 M5 - 300km range, 20l/100km, chocolate gearbox and engine, no warranty
E63 M6 - as above
Boxster - awesome but no.
Cayman - awesome but old for the cash
Audi RS5 - probably won't be that good
Audi RS3 - how much for a 2.0 4 5dr hatch?!
VW Golf R - best new car choice but ultimately full?
BMW M2 - want to so badly...

I'll probably end buying a 2006 Liberty GT by STI for $15k due to being tight and indecisive.
I know what you mean about being indecisive. There was a bargain buy Merc ML for sale locally but by the time I got my finger out and checked insurance prices it had gone frown

However, I picked this up today, which has cheered me up woohoo

Oh nice smile what's the engine like and do you need to own a petrol station to have one?!

Quite like it in red.

I still find myself looking at these - proper sheepskin-shod wolf... By coincidence I stumbled, literally, over an old copy of Wheels magazine in the garage this arvo - from 2005, their CotY issue, should anyone be interested. Anyway, point is, it had a review of the 2.0T GT by STi, and gave it a pretty good rating. Performance figures were not too shabby - 0-160 in 14.5 - I think an E46 M3 is about 13

I like that - and so happy someone else wants a red one too! Happy to hear all about it as you go - pretty certain one of these will be the next PB family truckster in early 2017, probably at a year-old or so, once I've given the CX9 back.

And coming back to that copy of Wheels - the front cover screams about the new 260kW VE SS smile
The Subaru bit sounds interesting - what did they say and any other performance stats?

I've got the article scanned (not terribly well, but its all there) - if anyone wants a read, drop me a pm and I'll email back. Unless anyone knows how to upload a pdf to PH in some way.

Performance stats include
0-100kmh in 6.2s
0-400m in 14.5s @ 160kmh
80-120kmh in 3rd in 4.3s

Interestingly its weight is just 1435kg - which I think its pretty good for a mid-size 4-door sedan, and about the same as a new Focus.

Too early to tell tbh. It had 9km on the clock and just under a full tank when I picked it up. Done 215 now and just over half a tank left, showing 14.2 l/100km on the trip computer.

The pre-prod manual sedan I borrowed ended up showing 11.5 l/100km out of a tank. However the manual encourage driving like a loon whereas the auto is lazier, and I feel less inclined to drive it like I stole it. I did flick it in to tipshift mode today and discovered it revs the engine on downshifts to get the bimodal to kick in evil

Won't really know what it is doing until after New Year. I'll report back once it has had a few tanks put through it. I used to get just on 600km out of a 6 litre, which was a whole week's commute - I doubt I'll get that out of this though biggrin

Defo don't get the auto tuned then .. I did on mine, and it's now like a hooligan when I put it in sport mode.

Chirps the wheels in 4th.

I really need to get it redone for normal driving as it's still a little harsh.

Rightio, I'm still around but I've gone a little stir crazy this last month or two and spent way to much on toys n stuff...

First up a new wakeboat:

Then ordered a new family day boat:

And this week the new GLE AMG:

which I'm going to bugger up by making it tow the two things above...
I'll start a separate thread on that particular brain spasm!

Oh and then I've put a hot tub in the back garden... just need to finish the landscaping around it:

Hey guys, Merry Belated Christmas and early Happy New Year!

Been a busy few months for me at work on a new company initiative project, very happy to be involved, and of course never quiet in the world of cyber security!

Still in Perth and looking to deffo stay long term, my employer is happy to sponsor me for PR and get me off the 457 which is great news!

Not been back to the UK, but have a mate (a fellow PH'er) staying with us over Christmas/NY. He wants to emigrate to Perth now, not surprised TBH.

Jader, new car looks great, be interested in hearing your thoughts when you've run it for a month or so.

Bibbs, sorry to hear how you're feeling, kind of went through that spell early last year with work and thought why do I bother, never had this kind of st in the UK. Hopefully things will look up.

I had the auto on my Supercharged VXR8 mapped in the UK, twice, it was really harsh on down change, if you kind of stood on the throttle when around 60mph it would hesitate, make an almighty bang and then launch you down the road!! Had to learn to feather in the down change to get a smooth take off from the charger.

Not convinced the auto in these HSV's/Commies are up to much when pushing more power.

I used to have an SRT8 300C that was tuned to 500bhp and the auto was remapped and it was simply outstanding.

Be great to have that catch up soon for the Perth guys.......

I haven't been on here for aaaaggggeeeeeessssss! It's normally too quiet in this section frown

At last I have ordered a new toy to replace the M3 I sold 16 months ago :O

New Ford Focus RS in Nitrous Blue with the optional wheel package. I'm so excited it is ridiculous! I have owned RS cars since 1999 including my current 3dr Sierra Cosworth. I did own a mk1 FRS in the UK too amongst others.

The dealer originally thought the car (1 of 5) was coming in February and the rest June/July. That makes it a very early car in the worldwide build. I'm hoping they are right and it comes ASAP. I've had an email confirming the order from Ford and no one else in the RS world seems to have had that?!

So what's the bets I'm away with work when it comes? Dead cert!

11.5 is outstanding - this is unbelievable:

My calcs put it at 10.3, so let's say 10.2 and that will do.

3rd tank - 500 odd km with 100 and something left when I filled it. However, it is school holidays so my commute has had next to zero stop start over that tank, and the average speed for the tank was 80km/h where it is usually about 60. I'd guess that 90% of the kms were done on cruise, and I haven't had any mates round to show it to, so no driving like a hoon (well, maybe a little bit biggrin)

I suspect it will creep up a bit once school goes back and the traffic on Citylink returns to the usual crawl frown
