Well now we aren’t going to QLD
If not for lockdown, I'd probably have been in Qld last weekend......which would have been a right bugger given that I had a major medical issue and ended up in emergency
My boss went to Brisbane on business on Monday. He isn't sure when he'll get back or what he'll do when he comes back and has to quarantine (his wife and kids are at home in Melbourne).
Well, I would have been heading to Denver in the next two weeks if we didn’t have the plague.
I used to travel across Asia and the US extensively before the lockdown, I’ve only done one return flight to Melbourne since then.
Supposed to be heading to Perth towards the end of the month, current situation permitting

Just thought I’d check in to see how everyone is doing. Obviously those of us outside VIC and NSW will be slightly better.
I’m just in regional VIC so bounced out of and then back in to lockdown. Didn’t impact me much as the office is metro so WFH anyway. Biggest disruption has been the schooling - OH is a teacher and is starting to get really pissed off with the last minute changes.
I hope you’re all doing okay. Remember to take time for yourself, create a gap between work time and home time, and get outside for some fresh air and notice the little things. And if you think it is all getting too much make sure you talk to someone. (can you tell I did a mental well-being course at work yesterday?).
In car related news I picked this up for the OH in June. She loves it.
And as a result the two non-V8 Holdens have gone

Just moved from the UK to Melbourne for work (under the critical skills category). Currently in hotel quarantine and hoping things are back to normal soon.
Been spending a lot of time looking at classifieds on Carsales when I should be looking at places to live. Priorities eh?
Welcome to lockdown, and more lockdown by the look of it.Been spending a lot of time looking at classifieds on Carsales when I should be looking at places to live. Priorities eh?
If you need advice about where to live etc then start a thread in here - there are quite a few Melbourne based posters.
Although at the moment the response might be “Queensland”

Welcome to heaven/hell (depending whether lockdown is on or off!).Been spending a lot of time looking at classifieds on Carsales when I should be looking at places to live. Priorities eh?
We arrived from the UK January 2019, so have some recent experience in settling in the area. Rental market is pretty vibrant even with covid restrictions and on a month to month basis quite good value. Buying a place is another question...
What's your situation (family? budget? need to live somewhere specific for work?). Happy to help

I thought it had been pretty quiet in here of late! This time around seems to have been tougher than last year - I think the on/off nature of the lockdowns a few weeks back and then the sudden imposition back to Tier 4, curfew, parks closed, etc. has given a sense of this never ending. I've been making a point to get out, walk, work up a sweat and enjoy nature. And spending too long browsing cars.I’m just in regional VIC so bounced out of and then back in to lockdown. I've been enrolled in a 'voluntary' program as well, designed 'to support my mental wellbeing and that of my team members'. All very good intentions, but honestly it's just another thing to do, and having to nominate 'stress trigger points' and write 'what does a safe work environment for mental health mean to you' makes me want to shoot myself in the face, but anyway....

Still here, locked down to, on the outer edge of Melbourne.
I am lucky though as my work still exists and I have a job. It is busy weekday mornings and afternoons, but way down at night.
We split back into teams a week ago, so I won't see half my group for a month.
Fitted all the brakes up to the red car described elsewhere on here.
Cars....yep can't stop looking! Would like a Caprice to mess around with but four V8s is a bit excessive, besides I need a bigger shed. And would need another house for that first. Friend just bought a Turbo 4 Falcon to get to his new work, seems to like it a lot.

Sorry for the late response guys and thanks for the welcome! The last few weeks have flown by trying to sort out everything but we now have a place to live in Bayside. On more interesting news, picked up the new wheels this week. A bit boy racer with the racous exhaust! Can't wait to get out on some longer drives and on the track later this year.
We finally got our Citizenship ceremony, it was a virtual one with about 30 other people and over in around 15 minutes!
Just waiting for the certificate now so I can apply for my Aussie passport in anticipation for international travel, I suspect some trips to my employers HQ's in California and Colorado will be first.
Any of you guys looking forward to leaving the country soon and where are you planning to go?

We're simply hoping to finally have the chance to explore further than 50kms from home!

No overseas plans yet - hopefully QLD mid January.

As for travel, we’ve bought tickets back to Blighty for mid-22 - got some family stuff that needs sorting, and beer that needs drinking.
Also, back in March this year I booked a trip to FNQ for Jan - which looks like it might now go ahead - subject to Queen Ana sticking to her promise…
Haven't been on here in a while. All is ok though
Last year has been about getting debt and expenses right down to get to a point where have job choices can be made on desire not salary preference.
So chucking money in cars just isn't worthwhile and have become properly Perth and decided to treat them like white (literally) goods for a while.
I won't say who, but I work for a wealth management company, traders etc. Interesting watch all the investment speak, capital raisings, IPO's, 10% returns in a week etc and just sat here thinking the bust is coming.
Inflation is definitely going up, interest rates will rise, the money supply will dry and a whole bunch of people will have made a killing for the last 2 years but the next 5 I can't see being particularly booming for the general population.
