Sorry didn't respond before. So how's it now going a few weeks in? Enjoyable and enough power?
Going well thanks. It has adequate power biggrin

Still not filled it - showing 11.5 l/100km so far.
11.5 is outstanding!
11.5 is outstanding - this is unbelievable:

My calcs put it at 10.3, so let's say 10.2 and that will do.

3rd tank - 500 odd km with 100 and something left when I filled it. However, it is school holidays so my commute has had next to zero stop start over that tank, and the average speed for the tank was 80km/h where it is usually about 60. I'd guess that 90% of the kms were done on cruise, and I haven't had any mates round to show it to, so no driving like a hoon (well, maybe a little bit biggrin)

I suspect it will creep up a bit once school goes back and the traffic on Citylink returns to the usual crawl frown
Have you tried using the pedal on the right yet??

I haven't been on here for aaaaggggeeeeeessssss! It's normally too quiet in this section frown

At last I have ordered a new toy to replace the M3 I sold 16 months ago :O

New Ford Focus RS in Nitrous Blue with the optional wheel package. I'm so excited it is ridiculous! I have owned RS cars since 1999 including my current 3dr Sierra Cosworth. I did own a mk1 FRS in the UK too amongst others.

The dealer originally thought the car (1 of 5) was coming in February and the rest June/July. That makes it a very early car in the worldwide build. I'm hoping they are right and it comes ASAP. I've had an email confirming the order from Ford and no one else in the RS world seems to have had that?!

So what's the bets I'm away with work when it comes? Dead cert!
This is damn exciting!

So how did you get an order in so early and was it weird not being able to test one first?!

Still here, nothing new to report on the car front.
minor work on the gt40 in the background, picked up an old classic scalectrix slot car set, kids on holidays as child care has been out and i have been working on getting my lathe converted from 3ph to 240v single phase, so re wind motor from star to delta, variable frequency drive and a whole bunch of other control gear.

BMW E91 wagon still going great, love driving it.
helped another local bloke get his 2zz/Quafe dog box back in his Fraser clubman. that was fun, there is 2 tenths of F*&K all room in those things to start with, and this things got a massive 2zz with Toyota's version of VTEC, dry sump with an 8 litre oil tank, oil coolers, pumps, oil lines everywhere and the inboard suspension. Engine sits on about 20° lean to fit under the bonnet so needs some persuasion to get the input shaft and spigot bearing aligned. Still, got the job done in a few hours.

this weekends job is to get a dry sumpped Hayabussa plumbed a set of pipes made and wire it up and then fired in another clubman. A small task force is being assembled at a secrete location to ensure oil is empted onto the shed floor, snags are burnt on the barby, bottle tops flung and bullst dispersed..

should be good.

if there is a large bang and a huge ball of flames you can probably guess where we are

It's on my mind all day every day redfacecry

The press reviews that came out yesterday are extremely favourable and all in I expect it to be awesome!!!

With regards timing I've been looking to place an order for a couple of months now but the SA dealers I rang were useless and knew nothing. I knew from RS world in QLD that garages were taking money but I suspected they didn't even know they were getting cars for sure.

Anyway I actually found the dealer a bit by accident because I was over the other end of the city and popped in. When I pulled up outside they had a taking orders now sign. I strolled in, told the bird I wanted to buy a new car, guy came out, told him what I needed and paid $500. Easiest sale ever! The salesman says they are the biggest selling FPV dealer in Australia which seems to be a pretty big claim but I guess they wouldn't lie about it. Due to this they thought they would get 1 early from Ford.

I'm surprised that no one else in Adelaide had put a deposit down because QLD say has loads of guys wanting a car.

With regards a test drive I actually couldn't care less and it really doesn't bother me redface I'm such a long term RS fan that I find it impossible to think I've made a mistake and won't like it. With the residual values of the mk2 FRS(only 315 came to Aus) being so high I doubt I'll lose out in the worst case anyway.

Since my post I've been on to the dealer again. ETA on the ford system is 23rd April now. Still pretty early compared to the UK cars etc.

Nice thanks for sharing and am excited for you!

Would love to see pics and a write up on the picking up process if you can be arsed.

Question - when you buy a new car is there any discussion on how many Kms it will have in it when it arrives?

CheeRS mate!

Don't worry I'm sure I can share all those things with everyone biggrin

Nah I wouldn't ask such a question because not like anything can be done about it. The car might be driven on and off a couple of boats at the docks etc. I don't even know what to expect. 30 km?!

The dealer has already told me that only one person drives all the performance vehicles and that is the manager. So any road test and service etc is done by him only which is nice.

They have offered to notify me to be there for the unload from the truck when it arrives at the dealer.

I intend to have full Opticoat paint protection, wheels, interior and glass along with window tints done at a detailer before driving the car too. So the dealer has agreed to truck the car there and back so I can do the whole collection thing from them at the dealership as it'll be a big deal to them too. Opticoat hasn't finally been chosen yet but it's a real good looking option.

Chop

Edit

PS there's 2 things I haven't discussed yet with the dealer but I won't accept happening.
1. Get all of your stickers to Foxtrot. Not interested in any pishy number plate surround or markings on glass or paint with dealer name.
2. Be FOXTROTTING careful how rego plates are fixed to the car. I do not want the front one screwed through the bumper unless its absolutely 100% in to pre made holes but I'd rather have double sided tape. Also the rear same deal, mounting holes perfectly or tape. I bought a new car in the UK where the dealer literally screwed the plate through the tail gate and ignored the mounting holes. When queried the guy says he used to work at BMW/Audi and that is common place way to do it. I went BALLISTIC and pretty much got nowhere. It was only the family Qashqai(brand new) but still.

I told the salesman I could be the best customer he has ever had... or the worst biggrin

See if you can get good (heat resistant) velcro instead. Makes life a little easier in certain circumstances.

Good idea for removal when cleaning. But I don't want the plate to stick too far out etc.

Ah no .. I don't work for Holden. That would be.......! I work mainly with things in the skies of WA.
Purely coincidental, 2 different owners, they were both ordered back in late November a week apart, but delivered on the same day in February.

Looks out window .. nope, not even clouds .. holes in the ozone layer maybe?

In other news, my divorce went through. So mid March I'll be a single man again.

Next week I'm off to Europe for 3 weeks, anyone need anything?

Thanks. Yeah. Will be in Paris when it officially goes through.

Not many men can leave a divorce with a house and a muscle car. So I'll consider myself very lucky.

Getting rid to kill people selling houses. Apart from that all good.

Sorry - if 3 valuations all come in 50k less than what you "deserve" for your house, then suck it up. Your house ain't worth as much as you think - and you have still had a 150k increase in 3.5 years without doing a thing to it.
