If you drive a decent car in Australia, you must get in this queue.

Although the Porsche Tour guys this year showed that Tasmanian roads are a bit much for some drivers biggrin

Agree, trained to do my current job down there in the mid 90's. No way was I not bringing my car over from WA at the time!
Drove up Jacobs ladder, that was probably the scariest bit.

Yep, every year someone comes to grief. I've enjoyed the Porsche Tour but Tasmania is best when Targa isn't happening. Though nothing improves the wilderness like the howl of a flat six.

Nearly 400 km before lunch and I've only overtaken one car. I promise. smile

All good posts here.

I don't think anything about Australia suits being a petrol head. The UK smashes it to bits in that regards.

I think Oz actually ruins the passion so be prepared.

Lovely place apart.
Yup, very true. I gave up fast cars and settled in to life with a capable and fun Toyota FJ Cruiser, still has a 4.0L V6 petrol though!

To be honest I'm getting a little tired of Perth and considering a change to the East, maybe Brisbane.

I was of this view until I moved to Brissy. Loads of what I would call normal, twisty A and B roads with no police. Easily accessible track days, a decent cars n coffee scene plus plenty of Classic and Americana clubs with weekend runs into the twisty hills. Some of the car clubs i.e.. MX5 run club Sprints at local tracks which are fun and the same as UK classed Sprints from what I can see. NSW is desperate if you love cars but having said that, if you make the effort there is some sensational roads a couple of hours outside Sydney.

Yes, I can agree that it's not the driving nirvana that the EU/UK can be. But the quality of life definitely makes up for it...
