I'm still think seriously of taking a CL600 when I emigrate in just over 12 months.

I can pick up a 2004 model here in the UK for £35K with 15K miles. 2003 models are valued in Oz at $AUD200-250K on carsales today.

My plan would be to drive it for a couple of years and then sell without heavy depreciation.

One thing I have found is that it is very hard to get a valuation of what the Cl600 might be worth compared with an "Australian" model of the same car. I have written to a few Mercedes dealers but no luck. I can't believe that none of the CLs I see for sale on drive.com.au are imports.

The other thing is to understand what it will cost to undertake any conversions such as the speedo from mph to kph.

Any ideas of value / costs - even a general view would be better than nothing.

I would also love to hear of more similiar experiences of others who have done the same thing.

Thanks,

Marcus.

No need for this (mph to kph speedo) if it is a personal import.

Personally I would not be looking to bring a car in just to make money off of it.

Yes in theory a car might be worth $200K+ but there is no way anyone would spend that kind of money outside of a dealer network and I doubt a dealer would give you anything for the car when they see it is an import....even though most cars here are imported as has ben mentioned there are subtle differences with the Aus spec cars to deal with the poo roads and summer heat.

Again i would have LOVED to have brought my Noble over. Noting in OZ would give more smiles per mile i am sure! I would also really worry about its ability tho to withstand a WA summer. 45 degs and twin turbos dont go well IMHO smile I agree, the aircon on my car would not do in that kind of heat.

Hey Adam. I'm running a 3R over here in Adelaide at the mo, brought it over at the tail end of last year. Managed to get it on the road by the end of the summer and caught a couple of 40 deg days. Air con was checked over and recharged before I left the UK and is performing well and windows have a heavy tint. I've fitted a couple of fans to the intercooler to help things along, apart from the front splitter grounding there's been no issues to speak of.

Hey mate, glad the Noble is coping in the heat. Love to know on here or via email/pm how much it cost and how hard it was to get on the road. I had to have my engine rebuilt 2k ago, had clutch and turbos done, new brakes and tyres etc. I am gonna see a loss of 10k in the car over 5 months, kinda thinking "what if i could get it to oz" again. Before leaving it could have its exhaust and intercooler done which is its only weak point now! I am unfortunate in that it i am not rich and my Noble is half my nestegg, haha..
