Have to giggle at the Peugeot badge thing It's me that made the comment about Monaro prices, based on the following:
'06 HSV GTO Coupe (VXR) $78,990 = £33,175 PLUS shipping PLUS VAT PLUS import duty...
They were selling them for (I think) £27K!
I don't understand why they discounted the last available Monaros in England, it didn't happen here, and there is no new one yet.

It might well be because they really didnt catch on in the uk, and yes 25k will buy you a pre registered 6l here now 
I bet they would sell no matter what tho in Australia as they obviously have a big (cult?) following.
Do you not have the VXR8? I know it has more doors, but it is the successor here. Out of interest, if you do have the model what price are those? think they are about 36k here

Hmm I replied but it seems to have got lost in transit...
The VXR8 is a mix of HSV R8 and GTS spec. It is not, NOT the new Monaro. There may yet be a new Monaro, or we might get the Camaro.
Re pricing;
My take is:
HSV R8 = $62,890
HSV GTS = $74,990
VXR8 is a mix of both, shall we say $68K? + £28,560
Less Oz GST @ 10% +£25,704
Plus shipping say £1000? = £26704
Import duty? (ours is 10%) = £29374
Plus VAT (17.5% is that correct?) £34514
