Nice car !

I am in the same predicament on the stamp duty as I am waiting for the NSW registered VI TME to arrive - that was scheduled for shipping to Perth for mid March also so may even be on the same boat - I haven't followed up for 10 days so must get an update.

I do know you can get a refund on the NSW registration fees if that helps. Also, AFAIU, you're supposed to get a permit every time you want to drive it prior to registering it on WA plates !

Does it make you feel any better if I tell you the TVR broke down pulling into the garage on Sunday.

Dropped valve at best, not even thinking about the worst yet !

One bank checked at the moment and seems ok although valve timing appears to be a bit out, engine sticks when turned over by hand so maybe something on the other bank, either way looks like a partial strip and coupled with the loss of a pint of coolant and it changing colour at the same time as the break down it looks like a combination of things - expensive things judging by the noises that accompanied the break down !

I'll give you $1K for it....

Then I'll stick an LS1 in it, so its not the original engine but they are readily available and lots of tuning bits for it.

Nice one thumbup Mine's on a train... which is now delayed due to the derailment earlier this week rolleyes

Could you not find a TME (is that the "6.5"?) in Perth, or did you save a bunch buying from E/S? I reckon I saved about $5K, less costs.

Yeah I asked about driving it before I get the WA rego, as it is still licenced in NSW.
I said I thought I had 3 months...
Only applies if you have a NSW D/L...

I have to get a 48 hour permit to get the car to the licencing centre.

I asked "So what if I had driven the car across myself, it suddenly becomes
unlicenced at the border?"

Her "Yes that's correct"

Me "... sorry I was being sarcastic... you're serious aren't you..."

fking pathetic rolleyes

Yep it will be a Tommi Makeeeenan Edition..the 6.5.

With its TM branded seats and its titanium turbine gubbins and its quick rack steering.

Does it have the rally car decals? That was a factory option when they came out. I believe you can still buy them if you want.

If your after a read that will make you PINE for one go to the mitsubishi lancer register website and read the Autocar review on the Evo 6!! 0-60MPH (old skool measurements!) in 4.5sec if your cruel!! It will outrun a Diablo and 550M!!

I'm not really a fan of the Evo 7 onwards...The 6 is the last of the true WRC cars for the road. The difference between road and race car are very few.

Can everyone tell I'm obsessed with getting an Evo 6?!?!

There are a few Evo 6 for sale around Perth...not as common as the 7 onwards though. I think www.imports101.com.au have got a couple coming in.
There is also www.fabcar.com.au but he normally has the 7 onwards (he also has a R35 GTR and a DeTomaso something in his showroom...the mid-engined, BMW powered one?)
There is also www.evolutionimports.com.au

Sigh...

Hi,

Don't want to hijack the thread but seeing as though you ask vehicle is here - http://www.topsecretimports.com.au/car.jsp?k=STK10...

Silver, white wheels, stock with no mods bar rear strut brace and cat back exhaust, no decals or rows of added gauges.

Once I had decided on the actual make and model I went to look at some and decided I wanted silver, white wheels, no decals etc so was just a matter of waiting to see what came up, didn't fancy looking o/s myself or asking an importer to find that spec as wanted vehicle to be chosen for import on condition, not because it satisfied a shopping list.

This one came from a dealer rather than an auction and, as far as can be determined, mileage at 40,000 appears genuine and it was well looked after.

The actual deal I have done is a bit better than the advertised price and includes delivery to Perth. Value compared to WA - who knows. An import place opp John Hughes had a white 6.5 recently, may still have, higher miles and not as good condition, $43k windscreen ticket. As I was looking at it a guy who looked like Oddjob's minder came out and asked whether I was interested or just looking. I said I might be but not at that price, my ceiling was $35k absolute max. He said wait there a minute as he thinks the Manager will do it for $35 and if so did I want to take it today or just by the end of the week. I walked away from the prats.

I could perhaps have brought privately for the same price in WA but really wanted a GST invoice as this is being salary sacrificed through a novated lease and could then claim the GST back. The importer is currently doing some very light panel work on the rear beaver panel as not quite 100% and is fitting new rotors and pads as recommended by the independent inspection I paid for. That and the fact it comes with fresh rubber and a warranty (for what it's worth - I know the score) makes it a better buy to me than private so overall I reckon I have saved $5k by buying E/S from an importer.

That is very very nice mate. Congratulations!

Is it going to be a daily?

I would feel so guilty putting KMS on one in that condition with those KMS :P
I reckon the value of the 6.5 is going to go up on stock, low KM ones as they get older and as more and more get molested.

Daily driver - I have spent so many years in low spec boxes I wouldn't even buy for the missus that enough was enough. However I can't stand sitting in traffic in something that everyone looks at and can be temperemental (like the TVR) so wanted something relatively unobtrusive and reliable but still with capability and some uniqueness.

I intend to keep the car for a very long time and therefore I'm not too concerned on putting km's on it as resale isn't a factor.

It's arrived! They ended up putting it on a truck in Adelaide due to the huge backlog of rail freight. Picked it up this morning, just washed it, will post some pics later driving

Any news on yours Bob?
