The Aussie V8 Supercars are at Wanneroo (Barbagallo Raceway) in WA this weekend. We currently have 3 National Champs from WA, Garth Tander in the V8s, Grant Johnson in the V8 utes, and Tony Ricciardello in Sports Sedans. Garth and Grant are both racing this weekend so I'll be cheering them on.

VESA keep threatening to take the WA round away, they want it to go to a street circuit rolleyes which would probably be the end for the only proper racetrack for thousands of Km... maybe they want to stop WA drivers from taking all the titles?

I'm going up Friday and Saturday but giving Sunday a miss, can't be bothered with the crowds. Anyone else going?

Oh you mean the track that CAMS have had no licence application for, and the "sponsors" have apparently complained about their names & logos being used without their knowledge or permission? (all alledgedly, 2nd hand info, of course)

The very same!

Maybe its time to put an offer in on the Zig Zag...I dont think it would be to expensive, it was falling to pieces last time I went down it.

Was being discussed quite openly so I guess it's OK.

I have noticed in the past few weeks the discussion (TV & radio) has shifted from "It will be a street circuit or nothing" and "we won't be coming back to WA" to "These are the things that need to be done to fix Wanneroo"...

The discussion today: Events Corp told VESA in Dec07 that there was no way a street circuit was going to happen in Perth. (good.) VESA then said well stuff you then, we won't be back.
EC then contacted the WASCC and asked what the club needs to do at the track to keep them coming.
Several comments today about how all the drivers love the track (no surprise, if you get it wrong you lose a spot or 2, not destroy another car) but the facilities and access need upgrading.

Current opinion seems to be to build a whole new track across the road, with several options on layout and the ability to utilise several parts at once (one current limitation is that the track is FULLY utilised and there are potential users/hirers being turned away.) The thought is that it would be too hard to upgrade the existing circuit (widen, lengthen, longer pit area etc)
