Thinking of getting an LPG conversion on my wifes Kia Sorento. At 2 tonne and a 3.5 V6 its getting about 16l/100km. Even with her driving.

Cars got 94k km and is a 2003, but may just keep it a while longer as it would take our fuel use from c.$2.5k pa to about $1000 pa, and given that its about $3k and you get a $3k grant it wont seem to cost us anything apart from lost boot space.

So, what are the views here and anything to be aware of?

Depends on how long you want to keep it after the conversion.

While gas is cheaper, the fuel consumption will go up, so double check that the rebate offsets the full cost - I thought there was about $1000 left to pay, although it might vary from state to state.

If there is anything left to pay you may need to keep the car longer in order to get payback.

Jeez, my Monaro is showing an average of 15.5 since I have had it, all suburban driving, and I do put the foot down a bit...

Might not even lose any boot space if you're prepared to have more frequent lpg fillups and a can of tyre foam instead of a spare tyre you could go for a tank that replaces the spare wheel.

I've been looking at it on the Range Rover recently too as i'm barely scraping keeping it below 20l/100km. Problem is the compressor for the air suspension would need to be moved for a tank in the spare wheel well and i really don't want to lose any boot space by having a standard tank fitted back there.

Whoops, missed that, but sort of replied on the sticker thread. BTW, I've been taking more notice of the fuel readout on the 'ro and now got it down to 14.8 average thumbup (Also doing a few more highway miles having met a lady who lives near Freo)

Look forward to meeting up soon. I'm guessing I will be the "senior" one amongst our groupwink
