Spotted me looking at my bank account balance, at a supercharged NA MX5 and then back to my bank balance.

Any WA Members want to help me out inspecting a car?

I had a 1.8 NA w/Jackson Racing S/C kit on it.

I wouldn't say don't as my negative experiences were probably more circumstantial, but I believe you're better off with a turbo.

James, Kym had some great pics I saw on Arsebook (which I can only view on my iPhone) which means you're witholding some excellent pics. Of cars.
Yep they were taken at Targa West. I will try and get some pics up later.

Put a link up to the advert Colonial. Personally I can't fault getting an MX5 with a decent lump of power in it.

Also have a nose around www.mx5cartalk.com as the car may be known to them or might have a build thread.

I don't mind helping out where possible.

I just joined MX5 cartalk and it's coming from there. Rod Wallis with the LS2 MX5 is selling his gulf oil painted s/charged MX5. That's the car.

Cheers mate, the offer is appreciated.

Oh. Now that is a nice car, was just looking (electronically, I can't give you any info) at this the other day. And Rod is clearly a proper enthusiast.

ETA: Don't forget NSW rego. I don't know what year Rod's is, but you want to hope it's an '89. After '89 you have to adhere to a whole load of ADRs, notably emissions which it may well have a problem with. I got mine from Victoria, so had to go the same blue slip route. Speaking with Engineers the chance of ti passing emissions tests were slim. In the end I ended up removing the supercharger etc to get it through then reinstating. Then driving around worried sick half the time. And it's not as if that thing wouldn't get pulled over and checked out.

It also looks like it isn't an Australian delivered one. Potentially more trouble, mine was at least that.

Even if all the above is cool, the Engineering is going to cost you.

Bugger - Pretty sure it's a 1990.

Ny understanding was if it had the engineering certificate signed off by an RTA Approved Engineer (and I double checked - there are some in WA - then the engineering did not need to be signed off again. But it will need a blue slip, and I've been through that before.

I'm going to give him a call tonight and have a chat about it. If it ticks the boxes all good.

If not there is a 1993 with a 1.8 conversion in QLD that doesn't need a certificate as it is a replacement engine that was available in that model year.

You raise good points. Damn you.

Modified 993 in Park Street, Belmont North. Had a revised badge on the back but can't remember which one now.

I see a Ferrari 458 quite regularly on the Gold Coast with plate 1 MC iirc. I think he's got quite a few nice cars as seen similar plates on nice cars also.

In Sydney on the emissions side of things have a chat to Matt @ The Hitman at Penrith the basis of his business is getting modified cars and ICVs through the emissions lab, cost me $1200 for my clubbie for the tune and his time to take it to the lab.

He takes so many there he has the leeway to tune while they test if there's issues, mine was too lean due to a blocked injector so he richened the necessary load points and it sailed through. The injector is now fixed and it pulls like an under 16's footy team.

Nissan NSX on Darby Street in Newcastle last Saturday. Certainly not expecting to see one parked up but looked good.
