Classics: Elan or Europa
Discussion
Tricky choice....
Hmmmm, now I really, really want an Elan Plus Two 130/5 in JPS colours (like the one shown above next to my JPS Europa). Usable rear seats for children, decent boot, big valve twin cam, five speed box, better cooling than a Europa, lavish instrumentation, easier to get into and out of. Not as raw and racy as a Europa, but sensible family GT transport!

I sorely rue the day I sold my Europa, but needs must at the time. Should the opportunity arise again I'd buy one again in a flash.
Now I can say, ditto to that!Edited by 72EuropaTC on Saturday 18th June 02:00
I was forced by real life to sell my Europa Special, but have replaced it with a pretty lovely Elan Plus 2 130-5, in a deep blue colour with an oatmeal interior and a very spiffy rosewood dashboard. So, now I am on my second Lotus (I have driven others, but only owned two). I do not suppose that this will be my last!

One of the very rare coachbuilt Elan estates lives near me - it looks great in light metallic blue and carries a family of four around.
Gratuitous thread bump! I saw this in Shepards Bush a couple of years back one Sunday morning, I had three other petrolheads with me in the car at the time and all of us were utterley gobsmacked to see it in the flesh, it disappeared as quickly as it had arrived but swipe me, what a lovely sight it was....Edited by Breadvan73 on Tuesday 28th June 17:50
