Joe Saward's take on it: http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2012/06/08/oh-danny...

Whilst maybe partisan, there's some truth there imo.

i don't know, Joe Saward reads as a chap that's a little obsessed with DB really. he should have balanced that blog and mentioned the fine work the the guys in the factory are doing with the new exige/elise. one of which has been labeled one of the finest cars to come out of hethel. surely that's relevant under the circumstances.

the problem with bloggers like this is they have no real exposure to guys at senior level and their spend patterns - and those patterns only come out in the dirty wash and then there's shock n awe because the average jo (joe) gets to see what real remuneration packages with licence can be, exclusive to actual performance.

so far nothing i have heard of DB's expenditure is that out of line with his level of seniority and the market (£30k on books, housing, helicopters all that included). not that i agree with it. as for glaringly bad management decisions like allegedly gifting >200 cars i wouldn't mind seeing that quantified in black and white on the books before i believe it.

i know you lot are going to be up in arms with this - but i'm still waiting to see the evidence that proves the guy was THE spend thrift tart and 'he alone' bust the company. so far we have a lot of people that don't like the man or his modus operandi, i get that bit and its got more to do with swiss beatz than anything else. but its all short term to me, he was appointed ... what ... just over 2 and a half years ago?

hows about this for an alternative, in that SHORT time... DB inherits the evora and its forward cost to the co, as much as we love the car, its the wrong product at the wrong price in other words its a dog to sell but the co is 100pc committed. since we are being exceedingly short term lets ignore the small detail of who really is responsible for that bit.

the elise is heavily dated and in its current form the market needs a completely new model that appeals to a wider audience (and the costs that come with doing that as a new model), the co is in bad shape in terms of current sales volume and historically rely s heavily on recapitalization. the co historically runs at a loss. there are no real products to sell so to speak. what do you do ???? start selling smoke and mirrors and quick!

and who put the king of that in arena ? they knew what they were getting and they were paying for the loss making exercise pre DB.

i should imagine the real reason they put a gun to his head was the preparation of side deals like youngman lotus which if i have understood the intent correctly is a treasonable offence as far as i'm concerned, forget about how much was spent on louis vuitton loo roll.
