Afternoon, the vehicle I purchased was imported from Texas, I have no logbook for it only the Texas certificate of title, all the import duties have been paid etc. I've contacted DVLA who are sending out the relevant paperwork for me to get re registered. My question is as the car is in bits being restored do I have to get a MOT for it before it can be registered. I contacted VOSA who were to be honest no help. When asked whether the car needed the MOT the response I got was 'They normally do'. I think the person I spoke to had no idea. Can anyone assist. Many thanks.

Sorry to barge in to the Lotus forum, but there is a chap called Paul Jepson who runs (or ran) a service to assist kit car owners with registration applications - it might be worth trying him - google Paul Jepson kit cars and see what comes up.

One question though - if it's in bits, why do you need to register it right now?

Thanks for the info, no reason really about getting it registered just thought that as I have the car I would like it in my name. Cheers
