Redundancies at Lotus

So that staff don't spend a load of money over Christmas in anticipation of a wage packet in the new year that won't be coming. It seems cruel, but it's kinder than sacking them after Christmas.
Seems a Becker resigning has become a regular harbinger of doom for Lotus.
First Roger when Bahar arrived and now son Matt with Gales.
Lotus used to rely heavily on the revenue generated from Engineering to subsidise its vehicle manufacturing, I guess the loss of key engineering staff in the past and a loss of confidence in Lotus by the OEM mostly during the Bahar era has resulted in this latest move.
I guess the new master plan is to cut everything at Hethel to the bone and beyond (including the works canteen breakfast)and to try and make a return solely from the manufacture of low volume sports cars.
R & D will obviously be unneeded with no all new Lotus platforms planned in the foreseable future, morale will further suffer as bright people like to be creative (and productive)in an informal atmosphere (which I hear is a thing of the past at Lotus ATM)
And as a Lotus is still mostly a handbuilt car,reliant on human skills, quality will suffer when the remaining staff building them are unhappy and depressed.
I wish them luck, but I cant see this working out for the best longterm.
