As I always say to the knockers, if you havnt driven one, how can you know ?
That chassis is sublime, even with only 140hp in the Liz S it rocks,and the track car will be bliss in its element.
Yes,its not cheap......but it aint that dear either.
Horses for courses.Thems that know will be buying, and I bet the Liz trophy next year will be full of 'em.

Looks great but 40k....Check out the Retoga (www.retoga.com). Now thats a great track day car! Plus only 26k. Must confess to being slightly biased.....

The extra torque and power of the S put an even bigger smile on my face and gave me he ability to overtake all sorts on the straights. If I were to buy a car like this I'd definitely go for the S and if I had plenty of money I'd probably go for one of these, especially with the adjustable traction control which I could start fully on and reduce as my skills improve and I got used to the car - just dreaming there though. That said, for three of us all day at Silverstone it worked out about £400 each with 30 - 40 laps including training in an Exige.. I can't really justify buying a track car compared to that value.

A KTM X-Bow is bang up to date(not 90's technology)and a damn sight cheaper. No wonder they've got a thousand confirmed orders. Lotus have sold about 500 cars so far in 2007 and I don't think the 2-eleven's going to add many more at that price. Come on Lotus sort your prices out if you want to do numbers and stop another sell out!

But, as mentioned earlier, apparantley they are not confirmed orders but in fact names and addresses of people that expressed an interest according to the KTM salesman. Plus, every Lotus dealer can service and maintain a 2 Eleven with the same intervals as a regular Exige.

Come on Lotus sort your prices out if you want to do numbers and stop another sell out! 500 cars in six months. Thats shocking. They really need to get the 2+2 and the Esprit out sharpish. The Lotus is a track day tool and an expensive one at that. Despite all its merits or demerits it will not sell in significant numbers. It wouldn't even if it were 20k cheaper. In some ways its a blind alley for Lotus as a company. they would have been bette to have announced/shown the esprit as put this up for sale if they want to survive without Proton.

As a track day car yes, but 'road'? The things fills up with water in rain shower, ie just another bath tub and no screen. WHY do they try and make out these things are dual purpose? Autocar (Lotus Weekly) has just given it EIGHT pages in their Road Test no. *!***** whatever. ROAD TEST? It's NOT a road car. WHY do we get this? EASY. It's JUST because it's a Loti. If it were anything else it would be a thumbnail hidden in the what's new. As for 40 grand - they must be havin' a  Might just as well as put 90! Me? If it had to be a Loti, and new? I'd rather be flat out on a dual carriageway in an EXIGE any day (AND probably be easily overtaking any 2-Eleven (should there be a REMOTE chance of encountering one) because if there was the very lightest of showers (that's pretty remote too in the UK  , more likely to be a downpour) the poor sod in the 2-Eleven wouldn't see where he was going and have to pull over in the nearest layby and then bale out - literally! Road car? Laughable.

Those of us do buy them will do as we do in an Atom or Radical, accept it's limitations and treat it for what it is - bloody great enormous fun. Things called waterproofs, you know - like bikers wear? - will do an admirable job should the weather turn bad

I dont mind an Elise/Exige but this is too little body for too much money. I would rather have an Atom or Ultima. Mind you, I havent driven either.

Darth had a point when he mentioned the atom - the 300 s/charged golden ticket to god seems to be good value at £40k'ish with a power to weight ratio of 600 BHP, to spank the lingere off most, including an Enzo for god's sake! Gimme one!

I can't help thinking back to 1999 when I was suckered into ordering a 340R off the back of a spec sheet, a year before it was released. When it appeared, it had gained 135kg!!, lost its fully adjustable track suspension and was basically an undeveloped pain in the butt. Never again will I listen to Lotus hype.
