Hello Paul...

My apologies for not contributing over the last few weeks. We had a bad thunderstorm here about 2 weeks ago and it knocked out my computer. Fried
the RG45 connection I use to get to the internet. But, obviously, I am back online now!!

First, congratulations on getting your Mexico fully legal (V5c) on the road. Now you can enjoy her without any worries. Also, I really like the
Trident you put on the cooling fan cover! I think it adds a touch of class to the engine compartment! I may have to consider doing the same.
Also you are very welcome on the window gears. It was my pleasure, after all the assistance you have given me. I also hope you enjoyed the Mexico
articles/reports that came with them.

When I bought my Mexico, it did not come with a cooling fan cover. I fabricated a quick one up to fit, but it is not original. I did ultimately
find an original one, but it does not fit my car. The reason is the radiator. I believe my radiator is not original. The top hose on the radiator
should be straight, while mine is S-shaped. It also has some weird spacers to make it attach correctly. Someday, I will get to all this, I hope...

I was supposed to bring the car to the Keeneland Concours this weekend in Lexington, KY. They are featuring Maserati this year, and I would have
been the only one there with a Mexico. Unfortunately, a week ago, I noticed a drop in brake fluid in one of the reservoirs and noticed some
coolant on the garage floor. I topped the brake fluid reservoir off, and it still dropped about 1/2 inch over the next couple of days. I do
not see any brake fluid on the garage floor. I need to do a thorough check of the brake booster area and see what is happening there. I hope
a booster is not leaking internally somewhere. Did you replace your boosters? If so, what kind (manufacturer model) did you use? The coolant
leak appears to be right where the lower hose attaches to the radiator. I will have to remove the radiator and have it checked for leaks..
At any rate, I didn't want to risk the car, so I had to withdraw from the concours. :{

Attached is a picture of two air filter housings. The one on the left is what came with my car. I don't think it is original but did fit
nicely in the car. Unfortunately, I can't find a filter here for it. The one on the right is what I replaced it with. I believe it is what
should be in the car. What is yours like?

Evening Mike. Sorry to hear about the brake fluid issues. I had all the brake parts on mine refurbished by a UK company called 'Past Parts', callipers and master cylinders as well as the two boosters so everything is original, but operating like new.... Hopefully!

The air filter housing on mine takes an oval filter element and the housing is the same as this one:- http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C549542# , the one with the snake shaped filter element is also right as I've seen both filters been sold as 'Mexico' filters. I'm not sure which ones were correct for the early cars like yours but it certainly would work perfectly fine.

I took mine out for its first proper run today, 250 km round trip to test drive a possible new car purchase. The Mexico ran well and seemed very comfortable trundling along at 100 - 140 kph. There were a couple of strange noises which suggests there is a slipping belt on the alternator, or something but there and back in comfort and with a big smile on our faces. Happy days.

Paul

It's a very comfortable place to sit, but not a comfortable driving position, it's very 'long-arms, short legs'. The handbrake is too far away and reading the speedometer in kph takes some getting used too as well. However given that, once on the open road its a joy, effortless at motorway speed and it gets better and smoother the faster it goes. I feel very lucky to own it thumbup

I'd have thought it would be relatively straightforward to move the pedals away or move the wheel back a little? I'd leave it well alone for a bit now that it's up together, mind you...

Hi Paul, I just received your mail. I updated the registry with the new pictures. Gorgeous, incidently, another article about the Mexico was published yesterday on Petrolicious with a nice blue example from USA. AM112/1*262 !

That's great Charles and thank you for updating the register.

Incidentally, do you have the Mexico which is in the GT Room at the Loheac Museum, listed as a 1966 4.7.

Unfortunatly no, I wrote to the museum few years ago but they never replied. One day, if I visit Loheac museum, I will open the hood !

Hello Paul...

It's been a while since I checked this site, and to my surprise I see some GREAT photos of your Mexico!
She is absolutely stunning! I really, really like the lighter blue on these cars! I think it makes the
lines stand out beautifully. Hope you are enjoying her!

As for me, work on my Mexico has been put on hold temporarily.. After some minor surgery, and against my
better judgment smile, I bought a 2006 Maserati Gran Sport. Most Maserati owners around me here in TN have
newer Maserati's and it was getting harder for me to keep up. I have attached a picture for your enjoyment!
So, between the Mexico, Ghibl SS, and Gran Sport, I am being kept quite busy. I won't even mention the other
cars..

I have been in contact with a gentleman in Germany, who is restoring a Mexico. I referenced this site to him
so I am sure he has perused it. If it is ok with you, I will send him the info on the front light wiring you
sent me? He is at or getting close to that stage and seems to be running into some of the same issues you and
I ran in to.. He primarily posts on Ferrarichat in the Maserati section.

Hope all is well with you...
