Er - yes and no.17/6/71 is the second hand test as shown above (and thanks for giving me the approx date - it was doing my head in)
There was no Autocar on the 13/7/67 - I have the 10th and 17th and neither feature the car. Did you mix up the years?

24th October has a full test running to five pages. Only £1,573!

Don't have 1979 copy sadly, although could have had. It was just that when i picked up all the mags the car was on its knees and I couldn't take any more. Still I have all Autocars and Motor from the mid-fifties on.
The 79 artical for you smile

I might still have the mag if you need it to compleat a collection?

A friend bought a mk2 Cortina 3000, let me paint a picture.
First it was in that awful shyte brown metallic, that had dulled considerably. Well, when I said considerably, I mean it was matt.
Secondly, it was an Estate car!

My full memory of it was being five up in it, on the way back from a sunday afternoon sesh at The Belvedere [The Famous] near virginia water about 3 pm on the way to the Wimpy Bar in Rayners Lane.
We were up the aris of a 911 at 100MPH on the motorway, the guy at the wheel laughing his little bald head off. It had the full monty 3000 in it, on five and half inch steels if memory corrects me. Looked just like the bog standard 1300 MK2 Cortina Estate Ford had produced in 1968, up the jacksy of a 911 at a ton.

It changed hands, and the friend that bought it put everything into a 2 door shell, and painted that daytona yellow.

Good Times.

No, I am hoping to get some replica badges that were going around a few years ago.

I'm still to pick up some original seats that I have been offered for it too.

HaHaHa. I remember that car well but not the name of the driver. Did look bog standard. The days of Ros, Twitch, Wells and god knows how many others. We were all loons really. Wells'y popped into see me at the factory a couple of months back. Haven't seen him for jese 25 years. He ain't changed, just a bit fatter around the belly like me. I remember Wells had just bought a Series 2 XJ6 4.2, green from memory. Goes for a stupid overtake and aborts whilst along side the car we are overtaking. Locks it all up, Car slews inwards, misses the car we were overtaking and stops on the pavement less than an inch from a very big tree. What's he doing, laughing his f'ing head off. Do you remember the guy with the black jacked up Zodiac Mk2. Turns out to have been a best mate of a guy that I've been mates with for the past 10 years. Apparaently he used to bate the police and got himself killed in the Zodiac whilst doing the same.

That sounds like "saluki bronze" smile
At least it wasn't "Silver Fox". That had a reputation for falling off the car yikes

Wellsy, now there's a name from the past.
A book could be easily written about him.
And it would sell. He's on FB, and twitter n all.
LOL
I remember the jacked up Zodiac, but didn't know the guy.
A few locals got wiped out, not least a guy called Kerry from streatfield road.
I had a few near misses, as did a few of the boys.
Rover V8's rolled, and capri 3000's upside down in front gardens. LOL
2CV Citreons with minirockets being fired out of the roof through Pinner.
That was quite a night, that car ended up on fire in Old Redding car park one night.
We were having a firework display inside the car.
A guy from the burger stand came over and told us off for setting off fireworks near his gas propane bottles. Its all right, we told him, we're setting them off inside the car. He looked at us, and just backed off, literally walking backwards to the burgervan still looking at us, like the nutters we were.
Unfortunately it went up, and had a resultant 20ft raging fire.
They don't half go up, suppose it was all that plastic.

We used to drive like lunatics then late at night. No speed humps, caning round the backstreets of Wealdstone Northwood and Stanmore!

Lovely condition, but FFS lose some of the crap badges and pin striping!

Woodwork looks in amazing condition. Always preferred the series 2 1600E trim myself, but then I am slightly biased. I bloody loved AAF 648J.

Unfortunately I can't find any of the original Savage badges, but I think the V6 on the boot is the only badge that shouldn't be there.. you should have seen it when I bought it!smile

Too much bling: all it needs is a tow bar and a chrome plated travellers caravan on the back to make a full set.
Much as I like a nice mk2 cortina (GT, Lotus or 1600E) sorry but this one does not look good.

I'm with the "leave it alone" brigade, even if that is a class of one...it's distinctive, different & of its time, so, it's not to everyone's taste, so what!

Hello mate. I hope you're keeping well. Great pictures and looking good. It is from another era and should remain so. I might not be a fan of the apparent mis match of badges, or the white wall band on the tyres or even the pinstripes. But it is an original savage and looks bloody great smile
