I stole it for £7k, even back then
You certainly did if that's all you paid! My old 2 door which was stolen from a later owner was last sold for £7.5k and that was a bitsa that started as a 1300 Deluxe and had a LC 1600 when I bought it, and later a 711M block 1660cc HC block with a lairy cam when I sold it. Owner after me fitted a V6, but it was still a bit ratty around the edges, and I'd crashed it and mullered a front wing so it had fibreglass ones fitted (don't shoot me - the car was worth £750 when I sold it, and a new front wing at the time was £750.....it needed two, and 2 inner wings and A pillars too)555 Paul said:
I love the recent update, I was never a fan of the black over silver, it looks absolutely fantastic now. Hopefully the modern paint will solve the issues with silver fox that I never knew about until this thread.
The black and silver looked great, but, it needed to brought back to its original colour I was lucky enough to own a 1600E (Silver, late dash type) and Cortina-Lotus (white, no green stripe, but with a sunroof) in years gone by. One day my uncle (he delivered cars for Endeavour) turned up with a dark blue Savage Cortina, owned by Tommy Sopwith of Endeavour Motors (Ford dealer) in Brighton. It was specially built for Mr. Sopwith. I later worked at a Mercedes dealer that Mr. Sopwith owned and MB built him several 'special cars'.

Been quite sometime sinse I've updated, but, I still have this car
It languished, undriven, and, outside for quite a few years, for various reasons but, it was never going anywhere.
I finally garaged it a couple of years ago, and just recently, spent some money on it.
The photos don't really do it justice, bloody iphone! Ha...
BTW, the bonnet doesn't currently stay shut, needs a little adjustment.
That looks soooo much better in silver and without the white sidewall tyres. Nice! It languished, undriven, and, outside for quite a few years, for various reasons but, it was never going anywhere.

It hadn't been on the road for a few years but was reasonably solid when I saw it. Came with a couple of Essex engines, 6 Dunlop wheels and some spares.
I did have a "Hail Mary" bid for it but I think he sold it to a dealer in the South.
Time will tell if it gets the rebuild it deserves, but it was uber cool.
