Mk2 Cortina Savage
Discussion
Chrome Rostyle wheels were still an item that could be re-chromed a few years ago for about £150 each , sounds a lot but when you compare that to the cost of a silly aftermarket alloy (seen on a supermarket trolley saxo in any town) it's not unreasonable. I saw that car a few years ago and it looked great.

Hi Graeme, I'm good thanks! You?
That was the Parana Capri, they were from SA IIRC?
Black1, the 1600E wheels were just painted silver and black, the chrome ones are after market, but oh so nice!
The Superlites that are on it now would look ok to period if they were painted silver like the Minilites they are copys of.
I think you'll find that the early 1600Es had chrome Ro-styles, but they were then changed to painted, no doubt a cost-cutting exercise (where have I heard that before?) That was the Parana Capri, they were from SA IIRC?

I haven't gone and got it yet.. a touch of cold feet, but I would be silly to pass it up as it will never be worth less than it is now!
Still not sure wether to put money in to the chrome rostyles, he is talking £900, but as has been said before, they make quite a bit on Ebay!
It does look 10,000 times better on the rostyles - you could always put the alloys on ebay to get some of your money back - why don't you offer him £500?Still not sure wether to put money in to the chrome rostyles, he is talking £900, but as has been said before, they make quite a bit on Ebay!
My old 2 Dr Savage, It recently resurfaced in need of a rebuild (reshell) and the owner was turning down offers that make yours look a bargain!! I could never keep up with its gearbox consumption when I had it in the mid 1970's, also the understeer in the wet was a bit scarey, otherwise fantastic car.
Oh and I paid £60 and a Mk 1 Lotus Cortina to get it, Approx total cost £310 Bargain????
