I have allways lusted after an AM V8 , preferably a 5 speed one , but values are now beyond me .
A couple of weeks ago near Brands an stunning early 70s AM V8 went past us . It apeared to be the same Lovely Gold colour as the Persuaders Aston . Anyone know what this colour is called ?
I'n the mid 80s a good pal wanted something exotic to cruise about I'n , preferably a Pantera . We went and met a Horse trader miles up the M1 to look at one that was suposed to be very nice , but it appeared to be held together with filler , it was rotten everywhere , Inc the roof ... Which apeared to be mainly filler !!!
Several days later I get a call saying " ile be round I'n something you will love.... " Well I heard it well before he pulled up... And there it was , a very nice looking 73/74 AM V8 I'n White with black leather AND it was a manual !! He asked me to have a quick look over it and was shocked when I discovered that it was Originally Persuaders Gold . It was a lovely car and very quick , in the trajically short time he owned it, nothing came close ..... About 6 weeks later he had a 1st date with a girl he had been mad over for a long time. So he drives her up to The West End to see a Show at one of the Theatres up there . They park the Aston, go to the show , come out .... And you've guessed it , some scum bag has stolen it !!
It never was recovered and we reckon it was stolen to order and broken for parts . Tragic really , there can't have been many built I'n that Lovely Gold Colour .

In the Persuaders the car always (nearly) wore the registration plate BS1. However in one scene in 1 episode they forgot to fit the plate and the actual registration can be seen. Was a great series though! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FN4aLa4Qfg

hidetheelephants said: Is the Persuaders motor not a DBS6 dressed as a V8? The car is a DBS that has the six-cylinder, 3,995 cc engine, like you say dressed as a DBSV8. DBS Engine: Six cylinder, 3995cc Power: 282 bhp @ 5,500 rpm DBSV8 Engine: V8, 5340cc Power: 320bhp @ 5,000 rpm Price at launch: £4,473 – DBS and £5,281 – DBSV8

It was dressed up as a V8 by Aston Martin themselves because they couldn't get a V8 engine ready in time for the start of filming of 'The Persuaders!' - and they wanted the car to be as reliable as possible for the TV production company ITC, hence the use of the trusty 6 cyl engine. They had to fit V8 running gear as well in order to accommodate the V8 wheels. And of course the V8 badges were the finishing touch. They didn't tell ITC that the car was not really a V8!

That's correct, except that ITC knew it was an i6. Tony Curtis knew it, too. Mr. Curtis also told me that he liked the car a lot and that - other than the Dino 246 - it went flawlessly. Mr. Curtis private car while working on the show was a green Jensen Interceptor and in a scene of the show you can see it parked at road side.

These are one of my favourite cars, always liked the DBS and later V8s more than the earlier Supperlegera DB cars. There's a red DBS that knocks around Nottingham. Looks unrestored to me.

Apologies Andrew - I was in "tongue in cheek" mode. Just winding Danny up, a habit I can't get out of after all these years. The Dino is one of my all time favourites
