and he paid double what you can pick one up for in the UK. I looked at one for 7k a little while back, in not too bad condition too but the engine hadnt had much work which worried me- ended up buying an old aircooled in the end. Just started looking again for a 996 and circa 8-9k will get a good one In the end he ended up with a first gen 996 in Dubai.

As a spin on this topic one of my old cars has featured on Wheelers Dealers. I've just been catching up on a PVR full of Quest's showing of this and was interested in the classic Range Rover edition as I used to own one. The feature car looked familiar and the number plate even more so.
Considering the show was made in 2005, about 2 years after I sold it, I was surprised how much it had deteriorated in that time. It was certainly running better and no sign of the rust when I traded it. They didn't mentioned the sections of wiring loom I managed fused together when fitting an aerial booster. I assume the bumpstop I put in the boot, as it fell off just before I delivered it, had been replaced, as it had been used for towing a caravan after I sold it.

All these shows are put up jobs , friends of the production company or bit part actors paid £100 for a days shoot .

I always chuckle at the "travelling expenses" MB must stay in some really crappy hotels and fly dirt cheap to get him and all his crew to wherever for £400.
Last night he flew to Italy (with his crew no doubt), purchased a Fiat 500 which broke down on the drive home. Paul had to drive out overnight with a trailer, a journey of 1200 mile round trip I recall, pickup the car and return to the UK all for, wait for it £400.

re Fiat and all oversesas crap bought, never a suggestion of oil, coolant and tyres, just get it an boot it for home or wherever. The yellow E Type looked a right dog to me, prejudiced though.
