It's strange how, seemingly, people who weren't even born when he was in his pomp are criticising him. Yes, he was a one-off, but then so were so many of the brilliant artists/performers/speed record holders et al. You know, I don't remember a vast amount of criticism of Alan Clark when he died, but he too was an anachronism. May they both rest in peace.
Pretending to keep this On Topic, J.S's Range Rover is a two door and there's
another being discussed on PH on offer at £77,500 !

I agree that people who don't know shouldn't criticise, but likewise Lowdrag,
do you know (in your defence of J.S.) that their ctiticism is baseless?
If not, what's the difference between their attack and your defence?

As I said earlier in this thread, I did have the 'pleasure' of working with him
and I'm not going to comment.

I must add that I found the 'miniman' comment extremely tastless.

Wow, that really added some worthwhile additional information to the thread! rolleyes

(Now had you included something along the lines of: "It's currently up for sale again and someone could get a bit of a bargain this time around!", with a link to the sale: http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C283909 , then that might have been more interesting!)

Price reduced and references to its first owner removed, after what was hinted at months ago has gained momentum as a story..

If I had the spare cash I'd buy it and then kill it with fire.

Never really understood why someone bought it in the first instance. The celebrity premium was always a ticking time bomb.

It was sold for around £1,500 not too long ago, and before his death. It appears that one chancer has tried to pass it on with a massively inflated price.

I was around and JS was always a bloody joke and a highly suspect one at that. Of course many people in the public eye , AC included , were notorious for their sexual appetite but the important difference was that what they were doing,if morally shaky, was not paedophilia. And that is important-remember JS was in his 40s- and more - when he was groping 14 year olds. Disgusting man- and have always thought so.

And you can guarantee that your own cars have never been used for any sort of paedophile activity at some time? - unless you've owned them from brand new, you have no idea what may have gone on in them!

At the end of the day it's hardly the range Rover's fault for anything that may (or may not) have occurred inside it!

(Perhaps the PH massive reccomends burning all of the properties that Jimmy Saville ever lived in as well, along with the old Television centre! rolleyes)

In the light of the recent allegations, the bed in the back and sink between the seats do sound a little rapey.

Yes. You're a multi-millionaire so you choose to sleep in a car rather than a hotel or even a B&B....obviously really.

My dear old grandad used to say "If you can't say something nice about someone don't say anything at all".

Can I suggest that all these rumour spreaders go off to some other forum so that we can get back to discussing classic cars. banghead
Whilst your grandfather made a good point Bret, JSs true character seems to be matter of record now.

I'd be interested to know if this is Jimmy Savile's former car.
