I'm pretty sure it's from the Rootes Arrow range, i.e. Hillman Hunter, either 1500 or 1725. Some of the 1725 blocks actually had that stamped on them.

2 ways to check: taken the number off the oil filter and ask your friendly local motor factor to cross refer it and that will tell you which cars it fitted, although there may be several.

Have a look at all the castings, and if any of them state "MOWOG" on the face, it is Rootes group.

I thought MOWOG was BMC.

You're right Huntsman, but I can't for the life of me remember the name of the foundry for Rootes! redface

Just remembered! The parts name for Rootes products was MOPART. You can see why I slipped up!

Incidentally, from memory the inlet manifold tells you it was out of a car not a Commer van, 'coz it's for a Stromberg; the vans had either Solex or Zenith downdrafts.

I would agree with Rootes. As it has a spin on oil filter and a cast iron head would say its a 1500cc Hunter Minx late 60`s.

The Chrysler parts name was "Mopar", not Mopart, still is, and they took over Rootes in 1967. "Mowog" was the old Nuffield Group, Morris etc. and became part of BMC
