The thing is, people may well be passionate about classic cars but should they be allowed to sidestep the laws that were put in place to prevent death-traps being out on the road?

I think people are equally passionate about arguing and nothing said on here will ever change peoples views legal / or illegal people can appreciate the work gone into these things.

Not that it helps or is even relevant but there are probably plenty of legal but unsafe cars out on the roads too!

Dear oh dear, we are having the same argument over and over again...
Didn't you write about what was required to get your C-Type approved as part of your thread on the project all those years back? I can't be arsed to hunt back for it now, perhaps someone has a link to that thread.

So, erm, the NGTC that may Father-in-Law and I built back on 1995, that is still registered as an MGBGT; is it legal to use on the road?

So long as you only drive at 55 on the motorway, worked for the civil service and tell everyone you meet that the MG is technically a better car than the Etype then I'm sure you'll be fine. wink

Strictly speaking no, but you will probably get away with it.
