I don't have any old ones, but i do have an STX 535, we had a xerion on trial and the swivelling cab was funky but it wasn't powerful enough, quick on the road though!

Anyone in the Shropshire area in the middle of September might be interested in our local "Michaelmas Fair"? Lots of classic tractors, cars, steam traction engines etc. It is free to enter your tractor in the static display as well as procession and entrance includes admittance to the fair for the whole weekend.

STX is some machine! I used a xerion on triples last year, bloody good package for high output mowing, I think its very good specialist tractor though for slurry, with crab steer and mouted tank.

I found it a good front line beast as it was very versatile, you could whack a trailer on it and it drove like a normal tractor, (well, fastrac ish) which is something you cant with most, but as you say, it did lack some grunt (was a 3300 i think) but for mowing it was great! just like a combine, amazing visibility and turning. second only to a proper SF machine like a Big M or cougar


Unfortunately I don't get to drive those much though, still on the old home tractor or CX95 has anyone had a 95+HP kubota? were thinking of one for a loader tractor, and like the almost 2wd turning circle...

Got to drive a newish fastrac and joskin tipper the other day, not a classic, but bloody good fun!

I think I'll wait for sunnier days until i get a MF135 or something

In 2001 I got an IH 354 circa 1971. Good runner, although the hydraulics were distinctly iffy. Body work was more rust than metal, but she was completely original. I used her with an IH finger bar mower for topping a couple of acres, but it was always OTT, if good fun. Finally got ourselves a decent sit-on to do the job, so the Nash became a bit of a decorative item parked outside my kitchen window (well, I thought she was pretty).

Fast forward to 2008, when I started working away in the Middle East. Got a call one day to say that my nearest and dearest had flogged my Nash AND my finger bar mower AND my plough. OK, it was a logical decision, and she got back what I'd paid for it 7 years earlier, but....damn! Somethings you just don't do.

Misery on misery - fast forward again to last week, when I had my laptop stolen in a street robbery in Riyadh. So now I've lost the photos of my dear old Nash too, otherwise I'd post a piccie of her.

I should be back in UK next year, so I will have to start looking around for a suitable replacement. A boy must have his toys after all.

One thing though, the hydraulic lift won't work until the engine has been running for about 10 minutes at ~1500rpm.

that looks great! is it a manual tip loader or a trip one? Twin beacons too! you know each beacon adds 10HP! mine doesn't even have a single beacon on. (mostly due to low hedges )

the hydraulic lift thing sounds like a blocked or old hydraulic filter, or old oil, when the oil heats up it gets thinner, that would be my guess, but i don't know where the gubbins are on older masseys, so i cant offer much help there

here is my dads case 1056xl and 956xl the 1056xl is one of the best lookin origonal ones in the north east as everywhere we go with it it turns heads we have 11 acre and that is used to make hayleige for horses

I seem to be the one commenting most on this thread! but then i guess i spend most days around older kit... suprising what kit livestock farmers in cornwall keep


drove a 756XL the other day, and driven a 9something... bloody good!!

good cab too, used it on hill work, and was bought as the cabs are extremely safe, no better on the market at the moment. bloody good stockman's tractors too, and great with loaders (also, liked the doors, with the pockets in)

I should be upgrading soon, need 85-95HP, good hyro, 4wd, good steering angle, and ideally a passenger seat... splitter and shuttle would be good. although i was looking at MF3075s and case 5130s, anything classic worth a peek? (also, modern kubotas are going to get demoed as are landinis and CNH).

Looks very nice, always wanted a old tractor like that but never had the need for one so not alowed one! .

Actually have not looked at the euromillions numbers tonight so never know my luck!

a 4wd 956xl would be bood as the passerger seat is placed beside the drivers seat but further back and allows the driver to jump in and out easily, our 956 has done 12,000 hours ans still starts off the button wothout a fail

Thought I would revive this thread as i have just come home with a new toy to add to my leyland. Its a David Briwn/Case 1394, no rot in the tinwork or chassis and all the glass intact, drove it home earlier over 30 miles without missing a beat. She needs a bit of cosmetic work but im allready starting to really like her.

You're not kidding, don't know whether it's still there but there used to be a Tractor Restaurant in Helsinki. Loads of tractors inside (from memory mainly zetor) as static displays and tables.

OHs father is a big tractor fan (he has one for forest work) and we have visited that restaurant in Helsinki.

During New Year we usually hook up a sledge to his Zetor and take the kids visiting for a ride through the forest with me on the back of the sledge making sure no one falls off.

My Dad is in the process of restoring his 2nd Massey 135. He used to drive these exact ones on the family farm when he was a boy so they hold a special place in his heart one could say! Will try and remember to upload pics at some stage, they look great!
