If the side badge says 'Furia' then Google suggests there was a car called the FNM Furia, a Brazilian built car based on Alfa underpinnings. Can't get photos uploaded but it does show an older model, this could be an evolution of it as there are certain similar styling cues.
A google of the plate refers to YNH being of brazilians origin. Despite those plates looking British.petemurphy said:
will see if i can find out more tomorrow ( as u lot have let me down ) - it was my bird's parents neighbours car in northants but her dad has gone to bed so cant question him!
Plate search says it was first registered between August 1977 and July 1978 in Northampton. So maybe still with the original owners which suggests it was perhaps built by them too? Of course that's based on the car ever actually having been registered and that plate isn't just something they've taken off a previously owned vehicle.

The four rectangular pieces on the side of the rear screen look very similar to a Lotus Eclat.
The bonnet has signs of the Eclat vent.
Are you saying it's a Lotus Furia? The bonnet has signs of the Eclat vent.
similar.
I think someone has altered the bodywork.

I've been thinking about this and the possibility the car was never used on the road.
Looking at the tyres the tread doesn't look worn - in fact they look like they're being kept inflated too - almost like new - not 35 years old.
Also there are no external wing mirrors. Now I'm not sure they were a legal / MOT requirement before 1978 so it might have been exempt. But still, looks like it could definitely be an unfinished project. Something based on what is going to be interesting.

Has a 'Identify this car' thread ever gone on so long without an answer? It must be a one-off.
You've got to love Google Image Search, maybe it's a horse, or a dog?

But realistically you'd probably not chop one of those up though!
Not now, but in the '70s they were just second-hand cars, not valuable & interesting old cars. The headlamp arrangements on the photo also look distinctly "hand built" and unfinished.
ETA - does anyone else think it looks like the bonnet used to have pop-up headlamps with a curved leading edge to the covers ?
EATA : Modified ??

But someone bothered to have it registered, cos it's got plates fitted.Looking at the tyres the tread doesn't look worn - in fact they look like they're being kept inflated too - almost like new - not 35 years old.

bit of digging on the registration says
"This registration was first registered during the period August 1977 to July 1978.
The registration was first registered in Northampton."
Might help narrow it down
As I mentioned on the other thread in the Classics section, the registration is likely from a BL dealership, adjacent numbers being Marinas, Princesses, etc. March 1978 in fact."This registration was first registered during the period August 1977 to July 1978.
The registration was first registered in Northampton."
Might help narrow it down
Doesn't look much like this FNM Furia
Very Jensen looking to me. Could it be some sort of a prototype, or test bed car they used but never put into production?
Got the same result on the number plate, but when I put a few of mine in, even cars scrapped many years ago, it gave me the make and model. Suggests it's either a kit or a one off import?
Will keep an eye on this thread as it is interesting.
