I think at the beginning of the chop shop/bangla bangers episodes it showed bernie in a italian car garage, with ferraris and Lamborghinis. the voice over said he has been in the car restoration business and is an 'expert' then it cuts to a clip of him driving off in an enzo. i used to enjoy the bangla bangers episodes, as that was truly restoring cars from scrap. but chop shop wasn't that great. apart from the rover jet1 build. that was a cool car.
Looks like a 911 is getting botched this week:
Classic Car Rescue
Season 1 Episode 2 of 6
Porsche 911 Bernie Fineman and Mario Pacione's next project sees them tackle the Porsche 911, a marque that found favour with sports car enthusiasts around the world, including film stars Paul Newman and Steve McQueen. They locate a bargain model that seems ripe for restoration, but discover some worrying welding work that may have damaged it beyond repair

Can we send in a SWAT Team to rescue the classic before they get their greasy maulers on it??
That would really be a "Classic Cars Rescue" rescued from the depths of scrappage after the cameras are turned off!
Perhaps a SWAT team would be better tasked with double tapping those two s.That would really be a "Classic Cars Rescue" rescued from the depths of scrappage after the cameras are turned off!
The geezer was talking bllcks again in the first minute " ...its a 1957 Morris Minor 1000 split screen......"
I thought the last split screen was in 1956 and they had a 803 engine or am I talking bllcks ??
I'd had enough by then and didn't see the rest but sounds like it was as bad as last week.

I watched all of it. Didn't see last week's. I can see your point - it's all aimed at non-PH types, with the usual "filler" where they repeat everything when they return from an ad break. TV for ADDs.
I'm useless with 911 specifics, I'm a bit like Clarkson, it;s just a glorified Beetle etc. But what model exactly was it? The wreck they bought had a Carrera badge on the engine lid. They also mentioned a 3.3 litre engine. But the arches weren't flared. Was that only the RS model, and should they have fitted a whaletail? maybe it was an option when new.
I've no idea what I was seeing restored. (I like the way they painted it, and then worked on the car without any protective covers on the wings)
PS- just got my C&SC this month - there's a 911 3.0 SC with £20k just spent for £19995 at a dealer. So what about their £22k?

You're right, except it won't appeal to non-PH types either, at least not my wife who was on a downer even before the Scimitar comment (she likes Scimitars). Cannot imagine who it will appeal to, actually.1 PST said:
Surely there are laws and regulations for TV about lying and misleading the public as they have clearly bought this Porsche and then made it look worse than it actually was!!??
Who gives a stuff! It is, after all, a bit of harmless entertainment. Quite enjoyed it really - as there is sod all other car restoration stuff on tv, may as well enjoy what there is. chrisr29 said:

and while people think like this no decent programmes will ever be made.. just a constant drip of contrived rubbish.GadgeS3C said:
Having rang the headline sponsor programme for insurance quotes on a couple of occasions for classic car policies the style of the presenters fits quite well with the "selling" style of their staff.
The terms "mate" and "you won't get a better deal than that" spring to mind.
Maybe Bernie's normally in the call centre?
You spoke to the same chap as me then. The terms "mate" and "you won't get a better deal than that" spring to mind.

What a rude little he was.
"Thanks for your time, im going to look around for a better quote and get back to you"
"Dont bother mate your wasting your time. You aint guna find a better quote than that your daft"
Next company offered it £300 cheaper.
Anyway the program is awful yes.
