Next company offered it £300 cheaper.
Good grief! What were you trying to insure that could have been £300 cheaper at the next quote? I pay £250 for my e-type and my wife’s MGB GT together (with Hagerty - who are really nice people by the way)

With regards to this weeks programme, what I did is record it, then as I watch it and whenever either of the two fat shouty gits are on I fast forward so I can't hear them. When you do that, and skip the "after the break", the break, and the "before the break" bits you then have 20-25 minutes of almost good telly (if you don't take the figures too seriously).

It's got cars in it, so I can't get as overheated as some on here about the quality of their work or authenticity of the restoration. It's car crash telly and far more entertaining than one of the reality programmes celebrating mediocrity or mindless football games.

Was the 911 SC originally fitted with the whale tail or was it just the turbo model?

He said that last week. Cringe worthy. Absolutely clueless birk.

I'm so glad I have deleted this series from my Sky box and my memory.

I feel relaxed and happy this morning, not shouty and angry like last Tueaday.

I watched the whole thing and quite enjoyed it. I most enjoyed them sourcing the car (how many of us haven't spotted something interesting in the classifieds and wondered 'what's it really like?') and then the bit where they got worried it was a cut n shut. But luckily it 'only' had a poor repair to the A pillar, windscreen base and roof. Nothing a bit of filler can't put right. And then they turn out an abomination that represents all the reasons some 911s are cheap on eBay. Was anything about the finished article 'right'?!

The only thing worse was the valuation. The credibility of that guy must be lower than ever now.

Is it me but did this weeks Porsche have the same primer/red bits the same as last weeks E-type before they did any work on it??

Yep, I reckon so, its a conspiracy, they try to make it look worse than it is. Restoring cars would always be easy, in their world, just T-cut off the aerosol graffitti and put £10000 on the price... Simples!!
.
And there is the proof, just read a previous page post that has a photo of the original advert, different reg but remove the bumper spray the red aerosol around the arches and send in the Cockkerrnney Twit.

I didn't think one was quite as bad, once he'd finished insulting Scimitar and Land Rover fans and telling us that Morris Minors are rare. The cut-and-shut bit was rubbish of course, and I'm surprised to hear there's an ECU on that, though I might be wrong. So there seems to be a pattern:

Go and see some unrelated cars and show of how little Bernie knows about them, and that Mario can't pronounce their names.
Go and see the model you want, but be incredulous at the price and storm off.
"Coming soon" preview in case we switch to something else while the ads are on, even though there are only ads as they're all synchronised.
- Ad break -
"What you missed" summary in case you've somehow forgotten.
Bernie gets a lead on the car they want and goes to see it. Makes a disparaging offer. Phones the other one and buys it, takes it back to workshop / railway station basement.
Team come in, are surprised at how short a time they have to restore it, even though they always have a short time.
"Coming soon" preview as above.
- Ad break -
"What you missed" summary, obviously aimed at the restoration team who don't remember what it was like last time they had a project.
All looks OK for a bit.
Someone finds a major issue - engine problem, cut and shut, whatever
Short piece of Bernie showing us something like a distributor cap.
Major issue is all OK now.
"Coming soon" preview, will they finish on time?
- Ad break -
"What you missed" summary.
They finish on time.
Valuer turns up. In a 3-series this week, obviously had the 8-series taken off him after last weeks performance.
Looks around the car, points out some things, leaves them a bit of paper.
Great, we made a profit.
Now, you've seen all the quick-fixes we've done, who'd like to win it? But there's no way to enter on line, for no apparent reason.

Throw in some old footage (which actually wasn't bad this week, even if some of it was speeded up) and job done.

Funnily enough I have, prior to seeing this programme, or its sponsor ads, spoken to Adrian Flux about moving to them for insurance on my TVR, and found the guy I spoke to very informative, chatty and helpful, oh yes and the quote was £20 cheaper than my current insurer.
I would think they will be distancing themselves from this stupid series.
I only watch to enter the competition. Honestly...

This series is my new 'favorite thing on TV ever'- by comparison, it makes me look like some kind of expert mechanic / wheeler dealer.

The Fuchs alloys looked alright to me, but then I'm not getting deliberately offended by what they're doing. As for the valuer, he's probably getting plenty of publicity for R&M Auctions (yes, I checked his profile on LinkedIn) so that may offset his 'valuations', if indeed, they are that far from reality.

Take it with a pinch of salt and enjoy the fact that its got cars in it.

I rather cringed when he was touching up the paintwork round the wheel arch and then painted the calipers with what I am sure is the old paint brush I have in my garage to clean out crap from difficult corners !!

So how many of you have entered the competition though?

I rather liked the look of the car when it was finished, is it really worth 22K though? (I'll get it valued again when I win it smile )

And was the car before restoration worth £6900, that seemed a lot to me, though better value than the pile of parts that he viewed first.

Car crash telly. And as a result strangely compelling. Would I pay £22k for that Porsche....er, no. Will I watch it again...probably (SHAME ON ME).

Check out "Fast n' Loud" on Discovery for the US take on this (sort of American Pickers, Chasing Classic Cars and Pawn Stars rolled into one).
