I only saw the last 5 minutes as I had something better to do (watch paint dry) smile The valuer was described as knowing everything about classic cars and yet asked if that abortion of a front bumper/spoiler was original!! Obviously his 911 knowledge is minimal.

So how many of you have entered the competition though?

I have met Dylan {RM Auctions} and he seemed a propper chap, I just hope he is reading from a script like the rest of them.

Agree with all the comments about this programme - as an e-type owner, I find it offensive they can be happy with the work (and 'valuation') they achieved in the first episode.

However, let's hope a member of Pistonheads wins one of the cars - donate it to Mike and Edd at Wheeler Dealers for them to have a go at. That would make for an interesting programme !

How about "Rogue Traders" let them pull it apart and generally rip the p**** out of the "restorers.

I didn't think one was quite as bad, once he'd finished insulting Scimitar and Land Rover fans and telling us that Morris Minors are rare. The cut-and-shut bit was rubbish of course, and I'm surprised to hear there's an ECU on that, though I might be wrong. So there seems to be a pattern:

Go and see some unrelated cars and show of how little Bernie knows about them, and that Mario can't pronounce their names.
Go and see the model you want, but be incredulous at the price and storm off.
"Coming soon" preview in case we switch to something else while the ads are on, even though there are only ads as they're all synchronised.
- Ad break -
"What you missed" summary in case you've somehow forgotten.
Bernie gets a lead on the car they want and goes to see it. Makes a disparaging offer. Phones the other one and buys it, takes it back to workshop / railway station basement.
Team come in, are surprised at how short a time they have to restore it, even though they always have a short time.
"Coming soon" preview as above.
- Ad break -
"What you missed" summary, obviously aimed at the restoration team who don't remember what it was like last time they had a project.
All looks OK for a bit.
Someone finds a major issue - engine problem, cut and shut, whatever
Short piece of Bernie showing us something like a distributor cap.
Major issue is all OK now.
"Coming soon" preview, will they finish on time?
- Ad break -
"What you missed" summary.
They finish on time.
Valuer turns up. In a 3-series this week, obviously had the 8-series taken off him after last weeks performance.
Looks around the car, points out some things, leaves them a bit of paper.
Great, we made a profit.
Now, you've seen all the quick-fixes we've done, who'd like to win it? But there's no way to enter on line, for no apparent reason.

Throw in some old footage (which actually wasn't bad this week, even if some of it was speeded up) and job done.
Top effort mate. You beat me to it.

On the topic of cut and shut, it was interesting that they only checked the welding on one side. Give me strength!

For my sins I have watched both episodes so far and will continue to watch. The Etype I think they did a shoddy job on, the 911 was at least treated to some new suspension and brake components so should be better than it was, would I enter the competition to win it? No thanks not at £1.20 plus standard charges, if it had an enter free online option then perhaps I would have been enticed enough to let the prime sponsors know when my insurance was due etc.

Surely there are laws and regulations for TV about lying and misleading the public as they have clearly bought this Porsche and then made it look worse than it actually was!!??

Here is the build thread before C5 got hold of it...

http://www.myporsche911.co.uk/upb/viewtopic.php?id...

Seems it was originally LHD, has had a few engine changes already, he patched up bodywork and added the front bumper.

Love how they disassembled it to make it look like a wreck.

So at what point did the "slide into a ditch" take place? Those pics show the roof and scuttle to be OK. Did the show "arrange " for the damage to make them look better and provide some drama?

judging by the slapdash way they addressed the ancient wiring harness and it's issues......I'd expect it to spontaneously combust as soon as the key was turned

i'm quite enjoying it now purely for the comedy factor. if it wasnt designed to be an actual comedy then so be it, but if it was then the producer is a genius!

the valuer is the star of the show right at the end, he looks a proper tool and his word is "law" :-)
cant wait for the next installment. none of the work done looks anygood, the car is probably worth about £1.20 after they have touched it.

The only reality bit in the whole show was when it was admitted that Bernie couldn't do the electrics and they had to get an "expert" in. hehe
Nice comprehensive engine rebuild as well - clean distributor cap and fit new air filter banghead

Whoever did this car needs to have a guess as well.

Guess which way the indicators / side lights should be mounted, not this way banghead
