I can remember when t' whole internet were just fields.

I think the Volumex and carb set up is a blow through, but I is iggerant and the books are somewhere where I am too lazy to fetch them.

I agree that the early Beta seats and dashes were loadsa fun and the interior of a late Beta is not nearly as zappy as it should be.

I blame the Germans for inflicting horrid car interiors on the world. At least my 156 has crazy tan seats and door cards with light grey carpets and black bits. Sounds daft, looks rubbish in a photo (viz), looks good in real life.

The tan was my first choice in a 156, but mine has slate grey, though the b pillar cover is in funky blue leather (I assume it came from a differnt car to the rest when it was converted to leather, though you never know with those crazy Italians).

I have a soft spot for the Tan inserts on black leather for some reason:

The one perk to the crappler black leather is that it is poltrona Frau and when you open the door it reeks of the stuff, almost makes one forget that the lower half of the interior is in horrid hard scratchy plastic borrowed from the fiat bravo, part of Fiats commitment to slip shod support of an historic premium brand.

A new clutch means one less thing to go wrong when driving in a spirited fashion.

Private plates can be good. Most are not. Something like that SP250 one is brilliant though.

this looks familiar:

Just to tease you, there's a possibility of two VXs (one Coupe and one HPE) being available in the future depending on how other factors pan out. Both are solid projects and have been dry stored for a long time.
I have now found a new clutch in Italy for 165 Euros plus 25 Euros carriage, so yippee. Comes out at around 156 quid all in.

The bloke selling my old Spyder has dropped the price from 4,995 to 4,500, which is still a bit rich, I think.

Anywhere nesr south Oxon? This particular shed needs some body weldage and a respray and those fooogley seats have gotta go. I may cover them with Volumex Coupe cloth as source thereof now found thanks to helpful PH'er DELTAHPE. Tan vinyl or levva and a dark blue respray would be mini povvo 'Rari=esque

Loooovely pre facelift 70s dash.

Sorry; I am renting three garages already and considering a fourth. All in South Yorkshire / West Derbyshire.

Too late now but the only unique to beta bit of the clutch is the release bearing, with a bit of cross referencing and ingenuity you can buy cheap old stock off eBay, can't remember what other cars it fits off top of my head though but quite a few!

I ended up buying an 8 valve Integrale clutch from Italy for 100 Euros and a release bearing from Germany.

I think that a bench rear is unusual. That said I last saw a 1.3l series one coupe in 1988 so maybe the shaped seats were a series two Coupe thing?

Only the 1300 Coupes had bench seats in the back. The 1600 and 2000 Coupes had two seats. HPEs had two styles of bench seats, the early ones wrapped around the sides and even some with detachable bolsters, the later ones with a flatter style

Here's another VX to add to your collection (or maybe someone else can save this one?)

A Vx coupe with the desirable and very rare factory fit recacco's:
I've not seen this car but is quite tempting as it looks complete, and I looked up the reg details and it has only had 2 owners, original colour was silver (just like my old VX coupe) and first reg 16/11/1983.

advertised here:

That one has already been sold, it appears. 2K would be a very good price for a runner with an MoT but seems a lot if the car is a project.

My plan is for the Volumex HPE to be my daily driver once its new clutch is in, and for the shonky 1300 Coupe to be a weekend silliness car. It may stay with the involuntary rat look for a bit!
