Lancia Beta Volumex
Discussion
Oof this is a rough one. Saveable though if you can get another door, and have a pot of gold handy...

Claimed to be one of two. If not, still rare and no reserve.
I appreciate that the picture, and the thread on this Volumex are a few years old, but does anybody know if the car is still about, and what the original registration might have been. Thanks Eskay

I hankered after an HPE Volumex, and still do. There was a smart red one for sale in Scotland a little while ago. I nearly went to see the white one, but don't really like the colour. The HPE is one of the best looking small estate cars that I know of. The ordinary two litre Beta is quite lively, so the supercharged one should be fun.
The later cars are built of decent steel, and can survive well if looked after.
Thread resurrection: That smart red one from Scotland went to Lincolnshire, and then came back onto the market last month, so, wahoo! The later cars are built of decent steel, and can survive well if looked after.
People looking to buy a Volumex should be aware that they aren’t particularly quick. The supercharger didn’t add a deal of power (maybe 12bhp over the 1st 2.0L cars), but it did add a lot of torque and driveability. The car was more like a contemporary 4.0L with lots of torque but not a great deal of power. Guy Croft could probably perk one up now, if you have money to burn. I started with a series two 1.6L so I was very happy, but that was 30yrs ago. I’m not sure how they’d measure up today.

Agree in today’s world a VX will feel slow but at the time they were pretty good compared to other things I had at the time ( Xr3i/Xr4x4/golf Gti etc) I had a vx coupe on a B reg in grey in 1986/7 and it felt hugely quicker than my Y reg 2000 ie HPE I’d had before it ( and before that an S1 HPE 1600 and 2000cc non injection coupe which I swapped the engine when it failed to a 1300 t/c.).Would like to find a solid Hpe vx that needs some non structural work to fix up.
Nothing from the early 80’s is fast compared to modern cars. Ottomh I think it was 135 bhp but as said, the torque was what was the big characteristic (can’t remember that number).
Keeps up with modern cars well enough and to my eyes it still looks stylish. So much crap thrown at them regarding rust, and whilst they do have a few weak points overall they were far better than most of the other cars of that era. I have a handful to prove that point!

Is it my old one? C363 RPC
Restored and running and driving albeit with one or two minor niggles.. bought off me and has been sorned ever since
No, it is A110BBD, I bought it for the running gear but haven't the heart to strip it and it has been blocking a bay in my garage for around the last 5 years! Restored and running and driving albeit with one or two minor niggles.. bought off me and has been sorned ever since
I also have a 1600 coupe and although not fast by any stretch, it is a delightful thing to drive and more nimble than my Alfa 105 coupe. I love my Alfas but i have to hand it to Lancia for the sheer grin factor in driving the fulvia, beta and Deltas.

One day I will find a photo of my B reg vx coupe in gunmetal grey with recaros I’d love to know if it survived since I had it late 80’s can’t remember the reg need that old pic.
