The later Citroen Ami 8 with the GS engine and fastback rather than the reverse cant rear window. One of the original hatches and some crazy Citroen suspension and an 1015cc air-cooled flat four.
It stands as a beacon from when Citroen had cool ideas and were unique and not faintly quirky Peugeots.
The 2CV and Renault 4 and Citroen Visa also tend to fall into this category.

No picture but my vote is for the Daimler Dart, a face only a mother could love. I cannot imagine what the designers were on when it was devised, I presume that it was aimed at the American market and they thought give it fins and chrome and we'll sell stacks.
However I would say they are now very cool and I'd love to own one

No it couldn't. The car in the pic is one of the works rally car's which took part in the 1962 Monte Carlo Rally.
well I'll be - could have sworn that the rally cars were the 6. The original nose only lasted 1 year by the looks of things. Last hurrah for the old Consul wheezer motor. Did vic Elford drive one?LotusOmega375D said:
Along similar lines. This rare Gullwing Marcos GT could be yours if you head to the H&H Auction at Duxford next week. Plenty of plywood in there.
I suppose any Marcos would be ideal for this thread.
The original "pure" 1800 was lovely, and cool. Gullwings pig ugly. Mantis appealed to Stevie Wonder fans. Last run of cars were just a pastiche of the original, with lots of add-ons to make them look muscular.I suppose any Marcos would be ideal for this thread.
early car
Later car.
How do you define cool? Aesthetics are in the eye of the beholder - coolness is more an association with "brand" and the public perception of that brand. Hence Aston Martins are cool. Bristol cars are cool.
I give you the 1956 Mohs Opera Sedan. The man must have been on speed. But somehow, you would, wouldn't you? If you wouldn't, then maybe cool means different things to different people.

One of my guilty pleasures would be the Mini Marcos. It's ill proportioned, dumpy, has an odd pointy snout that is too high...but somehow it just looks an awful lot of fun. It just seems so typical of the 1950/60 specialist sports car scene where cars were designed by engineers.
Love the Alfa SZ too.
Oliver.
Get yourself a Mini Jem if you want a pretty Mini Marcos.... Great, fun cars.Love the Alfa SZ too.
