Modern people tend to be bigger because they are better fed. Many of them are fat too, as a sort of side effect. Before I retired (I was a teacher) there seemed to be lots more porky kids around than when I was at school, not to mention thirty odd years ago when I started teaching. I'm amazed at how small some old cars are, apart from the obvious ones like minis and going back a generation or two to Austin 7s and the like. Even slightly more expensive Rileys of the prewar era are tiny in front, with the preselector quadrant deterring a pulse quickening knee grope. What annoys me are 4x4s driven by fat people of any sex who can't park them and I feel my life sifting gently away as I watch their barge arsed antics.

This is why I enjoy eastern Europe. They haven't become quite as fat yet per person/population. Lots of little dacias too. Like going back in time.
The parking here is feckin terrible though.

Astonisging to see the size of that truck at the back. Must be as long as a Transit van seeing the way it overhangs the parking space. What is it? I'm not into them...

And I'd have the Dolomite over that any day.

The Dolomite can seat four in fair comfort and five at a squeeze. It's not all that much smaller inside than the huge Mumtruck. It can cruise all day at motorway speeds and about 30 MPG, and can blat about a bit too.

Loving the overhang on the 505. I have always liked a car with a bit of overhang.

1989 Five Series - mild bit of (visually foreshortened) overhang porn thrown in for free. The current Five Series is bigger, but not mahoosively bigger than its ancestor. The E34 is a looooong car.

Is a Dorsetey/Poole kind of place, judging by the colour of the sky? It just all looks very familiar in a non-specific way.

Is the bigger classic one of those modern body jobs built on a Transit van chassis?

Certainly looks that way, from what little we are able to see - e.g. the rear wheel.

I did wonder if someone would spot the car was quite a bit newer than mine, photo is a bit deceptive as my car is very small. The bigger car is based on a Ford Sierra, still provides a bit of shade, Bournemouth beach.
