another vote for the carcoom veloce

absolutely no issues

on a funny note , when I was buying it the sales chap said he had a client who had one set up in his garage , next to a car parked outside ,
a postman arrived who was of African origin , and pointed at the garage and said "what's that " ?? " Its a "CAR. ".COON !!

There was a pause and a very angry postman , before the client showed him the side and in bold letters "CARCOON "

the postie saw the funny side

Vote for the carcoon veloce

I'm thinking of putting another one in an open car port that will get some rain on the end of it when the wind is blowing in. Will see how that goes.

Its a 1970 GT Junior. Just had full nut and bolt restoration. Just having a 1600 engine made up with fast cams at the moment to put in it. Still keeping the 1300 original engine for originality.

very nice, and similar to my thoughts, a nice prepped car with "spare" engine keeping the original for posterity perhaps :-)

If they have, it will be within £50.00 of a new one.........these rarely drop in value!

However, you should get a 10% deal off a new one if you belong to most car clubs.

Now the thread has been re-started, did you ever do this?

I'll shortly be looking to have one of these under an open car port and I'd be interested in views or experiences.

Not a Veloce, but I’ve had a car in an outdoor Carcoon for three or four years, in a part-open barn - been fine.

I've a large Carcoon and it has been a great success but next year I shall change to a Veloce. If you use your car you need a Veloce, if you don't use it in winter a Carcoon will do.

That's the kind of advice I need. I use mine a lot, but it isn't entirely waterproof so needs to be covered but easy to get in and out. Sounds like a Veloce will be just the thing.

Tried it for a while but the exposed end misted up when it rained. I think it would be OK if your car port was a bit longer and the rain didn't come in,

I also have an outdoor Carcoon inside a carport. It does the job but as others have said it's a bit of a faff if you use the car often. If you have the roof height a framed one would be a lot less hassle.

If you use your car regularly the Carcoon is a pain, firstly zipping all round the car and plugging it in and then reversing the process to get the car out. There are loops on the Carcoon so I put big hooks on the side of the garage to hang it up when not in use. But that's fine for once a year, not for all round year use. Get a Veloce.

I bought another Airchamber recently and the less than detailed instructions have had a bit of a revamp and the poles are colour coded now.
One point I noted, which I hadn't noticed before, was that they advise driving in nose first. Because otherwise you could melt the back out of the chamber with hot exhaust gasses..
Never thought of that.

Biggest pain is having to lay the heavy, scratchy plastic on the paint when it isn’t inflated - intended to make a frame for the loops (but it will never happen).

Thats a good point! I've been putting mine in exhaust first!

I have a carcoon to sell, it is about three years old and was only used for one of them, not sure of the size but I can check, it had a 911 in it previously.

Is it one with a frame? If so, I might be interested.

No frame = Carcoon, with frame = Veloce, and this model hasn't been out for nearly as many years as the Carcoon. I'm not knocking the Carcoon, since it does its job most efficiently, but a Veloce is more usable. I went to the garage yesterday, having left the door open to reduce humidity ( my new dehumidifier should arrive today) and found, as seen above, the car was in fine condition.
