Hello again,
well, got the car transported down via the online transport reverse auction thingy, Shiply.com. very good way of doing things. £350 door to door. Gave the old girl a bit of a polish up and a clean around the leather. Smoked it around the block a few times "just to keep her moving".
MoT threw up a few issues, mainly chassis rot around the suspention mountings and seatbelt anchor points, "consistant with long term lay up".
All mechanical components were fine, steering, brakes etc all good. Got a local garage to sort out the welding and also to fabricate new floorpans both sides as they were a bit errr, thin!! Should have it back done and MoT'd by the end of this month
I found a very good rimmer in Frimley, just done the headlining on my X300 XJ-r, and he will be happy to do the headlining & re-connelising when im ready. Probably jan/feb for that. Carpet sets easily available, diy fitting, probably go with black to highlight the maggy leather!
All in all not too bad a project, i can see the chromework getting done next year along with a good flat & polish to eliminate the orange peel effect on the paint.
i think i can put about 5k into this and end up with a solid, good looking example
keep you posted,
D

why? Turns out genuine and good on the OP for taking the chance. I didnt, am I jealous or annoyed? not at all. I emailed seller, he came up with lame excuses on a deal that seemed too good to be true- rule of thumb, if it seems too good to be true- it because it usually is, I didnt believe him so I walked away.
I did however get a great deal on a 911 carrera, Lotus Esprit turbo and shortly after a Chimaera. Win some lose some.

How's the Jag a year on?
Hello S8,No change really, half the floor is in and one side of the sill and seat brace, all renewed. The guy doing it has had a few health issues so not really rushed him though I am getting a little bit impatient now. insurance renewal came through reminding me it's now been a year!!! Promised by the end of August one, all welded up and MoT'd so we'll wait and see. have carpets ready to go in and Dave the Rimmer. ( see previous post to get the just of this) is all primed up for the headlining. he just done my Xjr 40 and it looks superb.
update and pics when I have the car on my drive!!
Darren
Should be on the drive by the end of the month now!!
Just procured a set of 4 Kent's with tyres, all in excellent condition for £80, bargain!!
recieved the log book this week too, hadnt sent of for it but thought i should as its nearer to being road worthy. To be honest i was cacking a bit in case their was some dubious ownership issues but the Log is now in my name with no questions asked
