I must admit, I thought it was a refreshingly honest way of selling cars!

Thought i'd post this here in order to reach a few 107 owners :-)

My 107's flasher unit works fine but is so quiet, you can't hear if the indicators are on (ok you can see via the tell tale dash lamps)

Mine has a 3 pin unit behind the instrument cluster, part no 000 821 09 63

Anyone know if it's supposed to be practically silent? or did MB revise the part so you can here it "tick"?

Thanks. Saves me spending ££££ on a new unit. Had a great day - 100 or so miles in the SL (everyone loves this car) and a real pleasure to own.

Got back & removed the N/S headlamp as i knew the adjuster was not 100%. New machine screw and lots of lube and cleaned all the headlamp parts with lense removed.

Thinking about the 107 in more depth, it's funny how certain cars form a unique relationship with their custodians.

After a conversation with the "leader of the opposition" we / i have owned and own some exotic metal from modern day Ferrari's, Porsche RS's, a brief experience with a Lambo, Lotus's and old E-Type but the old SL has managed to fixate itself as a family member rather than "one of his toys". The wife loves the SL - as do i, but for completely differing sentiments than one of my indulgences. As said in a previous post, you either "get it" or you don't. You certainly don't buy one for the driving experience, but there is something aboutthe 107 that you can't really articulate on a forum. It's a special car and a car that's loved wherever it goes. :-)

When I grow out of my speed days, I will sell my Tuscan and buy a SL. Class

Or you could get an SL60 and keep (most) of the speed with comfort commensurate with your agesmile

Yes, you need another car for your speed fix. The 107 is the only car you'll drive on a Sunday morning and get out of it feeling more relaxed than when you got in.

Sunny Sunday mornings for me are a blast in the Exige S followed by a cruise in the 107 and hopefully a quiet beer in the evening pondering the mix of class & beauty of the 107.

Threads like this one get me thinking about an R107 all over again. I've been doing the same for a few years now, and watching them gradually get more expensive. Just like I did about 993s about 10 years ago.

One of these days, I'll just actually buy one of these cars.

Iv'e had so many 107's over the years and I always regrt selling them when I see another on the road, such an elegant car.

I bought a late 500 last year and I'm an experienced buyer, low mileage 1 owner but I could see it needed a service plus little odds and sods attending to but it was rust free and to me thats the most important part for a 107.

Still beware, it being a nice car has still cost me 9k getting the odds and sods fixed. Cost of genuine parts are horrendous.

There's no such thing as a "cheap 107". As always, buy on condition and the very best cars fetch the very best money

Just had new suspension and sub frame bushes on mine and discovered they were designed to be a much better handling car than I ever imagined. Huge difference and my car had only done 70k.

Had mine out at the weekend too. Took it on a waft to my local classic dealer who confirmed that nice R107s will sell all day long at the moment. Was parked up next to a very colourful 911 from the same era, and all concluded that the R107 still holds its own in terms of desirable styling.

Squarey or roundy...which are you?
