Thanks Mark. This year I will be in the Masters which as you know is the big boys league - got to do some more cleaning
I am sure you will be back sometime, once a Merc owner nothing else quite comes up to scratch.

Good luck Paul... I can't see the appeal in the competitions myself but quite enjoy watching the little spats and advice givings in the forums over stickers and hose patina etc. I think there are some hilariously different characters on the 107 scene!

One thing is bothering me about these cars since I got mine.

In period, I remember them belonging to glamorous housewives in Hollywood etc.

How did they cope with the roof?

I can't imagine some glamorous young thing parking up and then searching for the roof tool.
Then getting out.
Then realising she hasnt lowered the passenger window.
Then fiddling with the two levers to release the parade deck.
Then her yelling "catch you bd!!" to the rear roof pin.

It doesn't rain there. They leave the top down.

IIRC some Pagoda's came in california spec i.e. no soft-top supplied.

I've always had a liking for the C107 better known as the SLC, seems like I'm in a minority though!

I love the SLC, seem like a bit of a bargain too.

That's what the film American Gigolo was about, Richard Gere cruised about in his showing the ladies how to remove the hardtop wink

This is why - back in the day - many were converted to electric roof mechanisms.

However these are now really frowned upon, as some of the conversions were very poor quality and can cause massive rust and structural issues!!!

Steer clear of one of these....

Thanks for the kind words about my picture, guys. Much appreciated! The kids seem to love squeezing into the rear seats - I think because it's nice and snug, yet they still get a clear view compared to modern convertibles. smile
The rear seats;- how useable are they for longer journeys - child & dog?
And are there any manual box ones abut or are they all autos?
Thanks

I have often thought the same. I leave mine in the garage with the roof down in summer, so I'm still pretty slow at getting the hood up and down.

My wife and I took the two sons we had at the time up to the peak district in ours summer before last and got on fine. The kids were 2 and 4 though. Gets harder as their legs grow and we've had 3 point belts retro-fitted in the back to make putting their seats in possible.

Any V8 is auto only, in any market. The 6 cyl (early 280's and later 300's) were available in manual certainly in Germany but were all auto in the UK. It may have been possible to spec a manual special order from the factory but I've never seen a UK manual car. On www.mobile.de there are 61 manual R107's to suit any budget. Top of the tree is this one for a hundred grand!!!!

Aahh, the dog is fully grown but 9 year old son hasn't stopped yet. Guess that's another car off the list then.

It's a bit rusty though, look at the forward end of the passenger side wing and above the headlight.

Having recently cried on finding out the price of door seals for mine I reckon there's no such thing as a good cheap 107, parts prices are getting ridiculous, and most 5-6k cars will need the same again to make them good. That said, it doesn't look dear IF thats what it sells for.
