Well well... just read up on what happened.
Just googled Mint & Boxed, thats the first time I,ve actually read a report on the actual scam.
My car came from Sir Anthonys huge private museum, he even owned Ian Flemings Bentley and at least one of every jag ever made, hence the Austin 7/ Swallow connection.

We bought an almost new Renault Scenic from a trader, the car had done 145 miles and had been a prize in a horsey event, won by Pippa Funnell. She didnt want it so got her friend the dealer to sell it on.

How did he get on with the legal action against the seller?

About 15 years ago, I had the opportunity to buy Nelson Piquet's BMW 325i Sport. My old boss had run it for many years as a spare company car since buying it from Mr. Piquet. It failed its MOT and needed some bits and pieces doing to it, but I couldn't afford the £300 he wanted, so it got scrapped!

What possible grounds would there be for any legal action.

Back in the late 90's I owned Keke Rosburg's old 308 GTS for a while. It was a little bit tired by then with a recorded 70k+ miles (probably lot's more in reality) and numerous owners, but it was great to drive. At various times it leaked oil, water, fuel, and rainwater, and occasionally bits fell off, but I loved it.

Sold it to a bloke in St Albans, never heard of it since. Would love to know where it is now.

I imagine, and I presume that you do to, that there hasnt been any legal action. My point, unclear as it might have been, was that there werent any grounds.

What makes me laugh is when dealers label cars as "celebrity owned" or "titled owner" etc. Who really gives a sh*t? Does anyone really pay extra for this sort of tenuous provenance?

I guess anyone who paid over the odds for a Saville / Rolf / Stuart Hall / DLT car must be feeing a bit, well, abused....

Not a celeb but the first owner of my MK3 Cortina was "THE HON J.F.H.BARING" of Barings Bank.
The bank that Nick Leeson broke.

The ex Felicity Kendal car appeared here http://www.mtsv.co.uk/Press%20Articles.htm interestingly I bet cars used in TV and film hold more of a premium. Or this from a stately home http://www.specialistcars.net/newspecialistcars/st...
Or this ex Doc Martin Mercedes Benz 230E £7000 seems steep to me though. http://www.specialistcars.net/newspecialistcars/ca...
