Celebrity owned cars
Discussion
I have a few images of celebrities and sports stars from back in the day:
Entertainers:
Harry Enfield and 1986 Vauxhall Cavalier 1.8 Cabriolet D135XOY, Autocar 23/3/88 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr
This is an interesting one. Apparently he still owned the car in 2002 when interviewed by Top Gear, but DVLA says no tax/SORN on it since 2003. Still around but forgotten?
Tom Conti, Bentley and Land Rover (1994) by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr
Bentley now on SORN.
1979 Colt Sigma estate + 1400GLX - Ken Goodwin by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr
Top comedian?!
Colt Sapporo and Lionel Blair, early 1980s? by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr
Trademark grin firmly in place.
Sportsmen:
Kevin Keegan and Datsun 260Z, 1974 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr
Salesman looks like a young Jim Royle!
1979 Colt Sapporo - Brian Greenhoff, Man. Utd. by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr
A far cry from what I suspect Man Utd players drive nowadays...
Norman Burtenshaw, Datsun 180B at Tricentrol of Lowestoft (1979) by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr
Datsun owners c.1977 Steve and Sue Heighway and Mr D.A. Ball by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr
My knowledge of 1970s footballers is limited, I usually have to resort to Google to find out more about them. (As an aside, the location for the Laurel photo is pretty local, I keep meaning to take a shot of my own slightly later Laurel at this very spot.)
Author:
1978 Datsun 120Y Estate, Arthur Marton Autorama, Taunton by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr
No, I've never heard of David Wilson either.
Interesting to see images where the plates haven't been blurred-out. I shall probably be castigated for most of the above being not celebrity or classic enough.

Interesting to see. Colt (Mitsubishi) Sapporos featured highly amingst celeb transport.
My Dad was good mates with ine of the 1966 squad who went in to have an international managerial career. As a kid I was aways slightly dissappointed at the cars he drove. You'd expect E-Types and their like judging by the standards of today, but he always had new Fords, mainly Cortinas. I think he had a tie in with Ford or a chain of dealers.
I think those were the days when players were paid a good wage, probably along the lines of a company MD. Good mkney but not daft money.
I used to work with a few ex footballers, buys who were at the top of their game in the 1970s and 1980s. The car of choice for them thse days is usually a nice Jag XF. They are all well off but live in nice houses rather than palaces.

I have a small involvement in selling to a well known pop star from the past .
I prepared a Bentley for sale on behalf of one of our customers, when sold it was arranged for me to collect the buyer from the station , he would ring me from the next station along the line , his name was Mr wood , I asked how I would recognise him ? He said easily as he had tinted glasses .
Roy Wood is a very nice bloke , and was quite happy to chat about what he was upto these days.
He even rang to say he had arrived home with only one silly mistake , he had accidentally switched on the heated seat and driven from near Dover to Birmingham in the height of summer .

Not sure if it qualifies under the thread title of cars but there is a tractor thread here.
My 1950 Little Grey Ferguson was bought secondhand by the Queen in 1958. (she must have been feeling hard up!)
In the old green logbook it says "H.M.The Queen, Sandringham Estates" and it was signed by William Fellowes, the Queen's agent (Major Sir William (Billy) Fellowes, father of Baron Robert Fellowes who married Princess Diana's sister, Lady Jane Spencer.)
Apparently this is quite rare as most of the Queens cars are owned by the "Royal Household or the Duchy of whatever"
and her name is only in the logbooks of vehicles from the Sandringham Estate which she owns personally.
