Ok, a few more thoughts:
Track / location
Central is a must I think and that gives a relatively limited choice. Realistically the options are:
Donington Park
Mallory Park
Silverstone
I think you will find that as from the end of this month Mallory ParkTrack / location

Donington Park
Mallory Park
Silverstone
is no more .

Would love to take the E28 to Donington, If you can stretch to 1984! superb circuit, and a much more inviting place than Silverstone. Would be the first time out for the car since 2009 at the Pomeroy Trophy, even longer with me driving, 2004 at Snetterton, how life takes over...!
With regard to some of the concerns voiced in the posts, i feel there needs to be an assurance that there would be what was described at a drivers briefing at Brands a very long time ago as a sledgehammer approach to driver behaviour.
Are we in agreement that nobody at a trackday should ever feel that their safety or their pride and joy is at risk from poorly marshalled hooliganism.

Track / location
Central is a must I think .....
For a mix of novices and experienced drivers Silverstone is hard to beat with its wide track and huge run-off areas... but it will come down to price as it would be far and away the most expensive.
There's also Rockingham but some of the circuit options are fairly dullCentral is a must I think .....

and the decent options are probably expensive.
I've been involved in organising a few car club track days and we've canvassed opinion using Survey Monkey. For the combination of location, fun and price it usually comes down to Donington.
Price also comes down to numbers and I've found it really hard to get people to COMMIT in advance.
If the numbers are too low to make up an exclusive open pitlane day,
an option that used to be available at Donington was to buy one or two exclusive sessions on a normal three session day - okay, it's not open pitlane but it does keep the cost down
and ensures that we are not out on track with people we don't know in their Chaviots.
eta: If the numbers were on the cusp between buying one or two sessions,
I suppose we could run our two sessions as a 40 minute open pitlane?????

Bring the single seater...
If allowed... I would! I might bring a TR4 too.
I think Bedford is fairly rubbish, but it does have the advantage of being fairly long and safe, for those who are worried about biffing their pride and joy.
Silverstone National is a bit dull, but central and very safe - only really Woodcote that might cause an issue. They also tend to have their test days on a Friday which might limit availability.
Nice one. I have ideas about trackdays (with or without historics) and with tuition.
Last month I asked Olli Bryant (drove some RUSH scenes, Ecurie Ecosse and historic racer) and Joe Twyman (equally famous and skilled) about a day out to organise and they are happy to join in. Snett or Silverstone look the place to be.
When there are enough peeps up for this - 20 to 40 max - I'd like to organise it, somewhere late winter before the racing season starts.
Interested? Drop me a line!

Well this has been quite a good start, good work all
So, I've been speaking to a few people today and it seems there are really going to be two options:
1) Taking a full day at a 'lesser' track than Silverstone.
2) Trying to gather enough people to dominate or possibly completely take a pre-arranged day at Silverstone
Option 1 is probably the most likely. I've been told that Snetterton (the longest Snet 300 circuit) is by far the cheapest bang for buck and also offers a 105dB day. Not a good location though. In fact a pretty bloody terrible location for most I'd imagine.
I shall investigate Donington a bit further.
What I'm hoping for is that we can get a very early steer on days that have been allocated for track days and perhaps get a good 2/3 weeks before other people can book directly - that way we can all book independently.
More to follow as and when.
Oh, Goodwood as mentioned above - this could be interesting too depending on costs - can anyone give more? I know that the track is about £8k per day to hire.
