The PH Classics Trackday 2014
Discussion
Rich, yes, I agree with that completely.
I've been giving this some thought today and the crux of the matter is this: if we want a purely PH day then the dates need to be more relaxed than pre 19XX only.
If we do keep it purely PH we have a measure of control over behaviour and what cars are on track together. I think this will work out best and ensure everyone has a good (and safe) day out.

Also to add:
Yes, the groups will need tweaking. However everyone is paying for an open pit day and it would be wrong to limit people to only a half or a third of the day to get out on track.
With that in mind I'd propose it ran something like this:
Morning: 2 groups (pre and post 197X) having alternating 30 minute slots.
Afternoon: full open pit with the last 15 minutes of each hour as a dedicated novice or more leisurely driver.
All of this is open to discussion though, I'm not the boss.

Gentlemen of the Racing,
A couple of updates for this thread:
Firstly (and sadly) I've got my teeth into a load of real life work stuff (urgh) plus various other projects with a charity I work with and family stuff. This means that I'm not going to have the time to give this germ of an idea too much thought or effort in the coming months. I am still very keen on it and think it would be a hoot but I'm running on fumes time-wise.
Secondly I did give it more thought over Christmas and I think the reality of the situation is this: cost wise it is really only going to work for a majority at a certain price level. We will struggle madly to meet that by hiring a private track so it leaves but one option - tacking on to an existing track organiser's day. I suspect that a few select phone calls to GoldTrack / MSV etc would enable us to get first dibs on something, ideally taking a whole day (or at least the majority of one.) I think the ideal would be a track day organiser giving us (PH) a month of pre-registration before they open it up to the mass public.
So if anyone feels they'd like to pick up on this and make it happen it's all yours. You can count me in as an attendee 100%.

Has Olly in the Elan fallen off there deliberately or accidentally?
Deliberately. He can't make it now. He's probably busy chasing the poon around the lucky sod.

Can we also confirm that the Subaru driver won't turn up like this
No, he absolutely will not, it's a very early mk1 Impreza, completely standard and driven by a chap I've known for many years. As Alan Partridge might say; "this must not, repeat not, turn into an all night rave". Yep, I understand that. I WILL get the PH Classic Track Day organised one day, our own little mini Revival
I suspect the Motorpunk day will probably mean an even split in pre and post 1980 running together - I imagine that will work very well.
There are a few properly fast cars there so the potential for massive differentials in speed on the straights is obvious. However judging by The Crack Fox's comments everyone knows that it will be behave or be beaten senseless day which is good to know.
I'm only too happy to help with any enforcement
