I would like to add my name to this but can't commit until there is a venue and date. (Avenger Tiger)

Registering interest, also dependent on date and location.

Having the cut off at 80's cars? I own a '95 N-reg Mini Cooper.

Right chaps, I'm back from LeJog and ready to get this together.

Let's start with this and see how we go:

Donington Park - weekday in May

Yes thumbup

IIRC both the National and the GP cost the same to hire.
The National is the layout favoured by almost everybody but there can be a justification for the GP if there are lots of entrants (but I doubt that will be our problem).

Well, it is a classic car track day. Track days for new cars are over there somewhere =========>

An old Mini is hardly a new car. This one happens to be a Rover Cooper from the '90s..
I've always attended classic car shows with LSMOC.

Tough call that. classic Mini's are basically unchanged aren't they from the 60's, but a cut-off year has to apply I assume..

Very much so, apart from the obvious, like fuel injection.
Shame, but I suppose there does have to be one, not going to argue it.

How about Mallory? Now under new ownership with the intention of getting things up and running again. Granted that it is not the longest of tracks but on the plus side it gives really good spectating from the pits and adjacent areas which Donnington and most others do not. As a classic track day a good part of the interest will be watching cars perform and hence good spectator vantage is a big plus, the hairpin is an excellent photo point. It's also pretty safe with reasonable run off areas, the history of the circuit is conducive to classics, it should be accessible for most and I suspect will better value than the higher profile circuits.

Good idea.. Only just saw it's been saved this morning.. Bit of a trek from down south, but pretty central I guess..

It was said the rules are open to people using their loaf.......

Anyway, I'd probably come down to say hi, but have nothing worth tracking.

I wouldn't say Mallory is safe; in fact quite the opposite regarding run offs. The Esses, the exit of Gerard's, and the Devils Elbow all have very limited room for error

I'd definitely be in for Donington in May, unless it clashes with a HSCC race.

Just spoke to Donington. The long and short of it is this: If we want to hire the entire track for an open pit 98dba day it would be £12k. 50 cars makes it about £250 ish each.

Obviously we can investigate getting in on a pre-arranged track day which I'm sure will be less but will mean other (probably non classic) cars there.

I'm okay with £250 too but so far we have only 18 interested people,
do you think we would get to 50?

If we only muster say less than 30, could we not buy an exclusive session
on somebody else's day, so ensuring we are only on track with PH classics?

Or if say we only reached 40, we could have 40 minutes exclusive to use as we want
and 'sell' a twenty minute session to another organisation such as MGs-on-Track,Lotus-on-Track or even Jonny wavey from BaT who will be based at Donington next year?
