AFAIK 3 doors didn't come from the factory with leather. Amongst other things I used to remove the ECU from mine at night. No thieving scum ever managed to start it.
Yes, I think there were a couple of dealer specials done for people ( as with the automatic box Sapphires ) but they were cloth from the factory. The Mordors came with either though

Feeling old. I remeber when me and my mates thought a cav 130 was a 'fast' car....
Agree and I also thought the same and its funny how things have changed so much but I think cars nowadays only have loads of power to make up for how heavy they are so maybe its all just relative. pti said:

Didn't Mr Clarkson have a cosworth at one point? Allegedly he was quoted £26k to insure it.
Have no idea if there's any truth in this though

Also remember back in the 90's a local criminal who I heard it was years later, used a 3 door Sierra cosworth to hold up the off license round the corner from me he got chased by the the store manager in his e30 M3 and got away no doubt with some wreckless driving. My dad had a XR4i boxed in a lockup with a Citreon BX GTI who we think aforementioned local criminal stole the ECU unit from the XR4i by moving the Citreon

2-litre 5-door XR4i? Pretty rare carThe 2.8 4i used a K-Jetronic Bosch injection system which did not have an Ecu. Just a revolving disk to distribute the fuel.

and if it wasn't an ECU it was something very similar it was a long time ago!.

K jetronic is mechanical injection not electronic.
I remember having a multi-lock, snap off steering wheel, a vecta alarm, AND a wheel clamp on my 1.3 MK4 Escort XR3i looky-likey. Still found a kid sitting in it one day trying to start it. Somehow his head broke the passenger side window from the drivers side........
His Dad (he was around 15 yrs old) had the cheek to come round and ask why I had hit his kid, the kid regretted this event when I showed his Dad the car, I thought I had hit him hard.
It was evil in the 90s for theft. When I think the amount of times I have left my car open in recent times and NOTHING has happened (even left window open for two weeks when I went away). Back then you were always paranoid about your car.
On the flip side, we now have decent security factory installed and trackers which work. Most thefts we see now are "with keys" or ECU hacks.
The RS Focus seems to be the new "cossie". http://www.focusrsoc.com/forums/topic/30762-recent... Now you break in, attach to the OBD port, then come back with the keys you code. The only way to not get your car stolen, is to not buy it in the first place it would seem. Until extremely tough sentencing comes into place the theft of cars/bikes will never disappear.
Oh, and if you think car crime is bad, you should see the amount of bikes stolen.
